I have not been part of my chapter for very long, but it seems as though Phi Sig at FAU seems to be underrated. I have heard from sisters, that we arent as prominant as others. We do have highest greek GPA and have the best retention rate of the sororities. I am no expert, but from what I have seen as well, we are underrated.
I was sad to see that quite a few Phi Sig chapters were mentioned here, but at least some people are noticing us! Hehe.

Most underrated fraternity on campus--probably Lambda Chi

It amazes me how many people chose their own house. I guess it is because you always want people to see your house as you see it. I wonder if anyone is completely satisfied with how their campus views their house?

Anyway I would say and university of Missouri, Zeta iand Alpha Chi are the most underated. For the guys I wouldn't know where to begin awards wise I think KA should have recieved some, socially their are alot of great houses that get over looked like Phi Kap, and then of course Evans Scholars gets left out of everything sometimes by choice. Its hard with more than 20 houses ranging in size from 10 to over 100, you can pick out what people feel to be the top and everyone else just kinda gets lost in there even if they are a terrific house. Oh and Phi MU and LXA are doing an amazing job of coming back to campus and I think sometimes people forget how young their houses are on campus and how amazing they are doing!

I think at Eastern Mich the most underrated sorority is our local, Sigma Nu Phi. These girls at their LARGEST the 5 years I've been here were at 12, not too long ago too they dominated the campus. They were the first sorority here on campus. The girls are really really sweet and try so hard to be a strong sorority and people just don't give them a fair shake b/c they are local and they have kinda a "geeky" reputation. But these girls cheer for everyone at every event, they are at every event they can be at, they have good grades, they're fun girls; hell their advisor owns the bar near campus that holds our greek nights! They also have terriffic sisterhood.

For fraternities, I think the most underrated is PSK. These guys are so nice and fun and they are all really good guys that I, at least, feel I can really trust more than a lot of other chapters on campus. They are really fun and sometimes pretty wild, but it's nothing that isn't totally harmless. I'd have to say if something happened to me and I needed to go to a house for help, they would be one of the first I'd choose to go to.

By far at Clarion the most underrated sororities are TPA, just because of thier size, they have 12 members I think, and most people don't even know they exist. and AKA and ZPhiB and I'm not really sure why, I know they do alot, they are great women.

The Fraternities it's harder to say. I mean underrated by whom the school, the greek community, other students? I'd have to say the most underrated fraternities would have to be Phi Mu Alpha, Theta Chi, and my chapter.

ATOTerp, I find that VERY interesting because when I went to UMD years ago, I would have considered AOP at the bottom of the first/top tier of sorority houses. I ALWAYS considered them one of the best.

Are they in the decline? Any sororities on the rise at UMD?

Interesting how many people are naming their own GLOs...

I will follow suit and say that AEPhi is the most underrated sorority at my school. We do just as much as the other four, raise just as much $ for our philanthropies, have just as strong an academic program (I think my chapter has always exceeded all-sorority GPA and has had the highest sorority GPA for a couple of semesters), have a strong sisterhood... but we're small. We started from a small local sorority - there were only 10 of us when we were colonized. The chapter has since grown to around 30-35. But the other sororities have around 90-100 members, so PNMs see one sorority glaringly smaller than the others, think something's wrong with us, and cut us at the first opportunity. :(

Back when we were a local, it was even worse. We were derided for not being a "real" (read: national) sorority. We got this from independents, PNMs, members of other sororities (how panhellenic of them  ) and even from our Greek Life Advisor!

</bitch-session> :)

For the fraternities, I'd say probably ZBT. Great guys, but their house is very far from campus and I think that hurts their visibility, especially during rush ("why should I live all the way out there and have to drive in every day when I can live in a fraternity house right on campus?")

I definately have to agree with you in saying that AXO is an underrated house. They are one of my absolute favorite sororities on our campus. I think they are fabulous and they have amazing talented women, but they just get overlooked a lot. :( I think as far as fraternities I would also agree, Phi Kap is a fun house but you just don't hear about them as often as someone like Beta. I also personally think the guys of AKL are wonderful as well. :)

at slu, the most underrated sorority is probably DG. They have probably the best philanthropy event on campus (Anchor Splash), and really know how to have a good time. as far as fraternities, Delta Sigma Phi, they are a great group of guys!

Um, wow, that was so incredibly nice of you.... we've been saying that for the past two years but coming from you it doesn't feel like a pity party, lol....

I'd have to agree that we've placed highly in events and stuff and completely gotten the shaft sometimes, but hey that's greek life, isn't it??

For the record, you Phi Mu ladies have definitely been staking your claim in Greek territory. Congratulations.:)

A-Phi Bubbles I really have to agree about A E Pi being underrated at our school... I have to DISAGREE that it is because they are historically "jewish" though... although the A E Pi chapter on our campus does have mainly jewish brothers... not ALL of them are. I think this happens to them because of their size. They don't have as many brothers as the other two and they JUST got their charter very recently... so people just kinda shove them to the side as "not a real fraternity" since they are still establishing themselves. They are definitely fun to hang out with though... and the guys are really smart and well just nice...

As for sororities... I'd have to say that each of the three have something to offer and we each have our distinct personalities and *mostly* get recognized for the things we do... but I mean really NO greek org. on our campus gets the respect that we deserve, I mean honestly really only the greeks know about greeks on our campus... none of us really have a reputation outside the system... the rest of the campus could care less...

Ohh no they are still one of the top soro. next to the other two but they dont get recognized as much as the "other two" as they should.....Im trying to stay away from names ;)

UT PhiSig 08-08-2003 01:40 PM

well I havent started at UT yet so I dont know, but at my last college Pi Kapp was pretty underrated. They had a kickass foam and mardi gras party one year that was a really good time. Sorority wise I would say either Kappa or Sigma Kappa, most of the attention went to DG, Alpha Xi and Alpha Phi so they got overlooked a lot.
