It seems like I've been prepping for rush all summer!
My mom and I went to Chicago to go shopping for new clothes, I bought tons of tops, a jeans jacket, 2 more pairs of Sevens and a pair of Blue Cults, a pair of super cute Marc Jacobs shoes, and a black dress with a pink ribbon accent. I also am getting my hair re-straightened and using Crest White Strips. And the week before rush I'm going to apply self-tanner, get my eyebrows done, and get a french manicure and a pedicure. |
Well, I'm going to buy some sundresses because I hardly never wear dresses and I dont think it would be a good idea to wear skirts for the first 3 rounds before pref. :) I'm also going to get a pedicure, a massage, and a foot facial the week before. Other than that, I'm going to be my normal self. :D

Pinklady123, I'm way jealous of your shopping spree!!!!!
As for me, I am going to get acrylics because I DEFINITELY bite my nails :)....but I'm not sure when's a good time to go and get them because I've never had them before  any suggestions? Also, I think on the day of orientation or the day before, I'm going to get a pedicure (still don't know where since I hardly ever get pedicures). I keep debating the whole Mystic Tan thing, but I kind of think it's silly to do since everyone knows how pale I am anyways (plus I like to think I have awesome skin, so why bother....except for those darn legs!!!!) I also have a dermatologist appointment next week to make sure my skin looks perfect. I hardly wear any makeup normally (besides eyeliner and mascara), so I'm thinking that my makeup for rush will not be much more than that...maybe some bronzer. I'm also debating getting my eyebrows done....I've always kind of thought it would be fun, but I don't want them to screw up and leave me looking awful for rush....any thoughts on this anyone? |

I posted once already to say what I was doing, and I have to say most of mine wasnt out of the normal...I am trying to get my hair cut since it grew about 11 inches since I last cut it...Umm...I need to fix the button on my pants cause I dont want to buy new ones...as for whitening teeth this is just my excuse to really need to start doing it...and tanning my legs is cause I dont want to blind someone with how white my legs are. As for nails, I will shape and paint them myself right before rush...And as for makeup I own a little that I wear on special occations...and i consider rush to be one of those...I really wear makeup for it so that I have color to my checks and that I hide things like the scars on top of my eyelids...

I second the whole getting them done a few days before thing, too. Especially since it's your first time, you might swell a bit. Although I have found that applying a warm, damp washcloth immediately after helps stop that. |
I burned myself with a curling iron on one cheek the other day, and it shows no sign of fading. Any ideas how to make it go away? recruitment is a week away and I have a huge red spot on my cheek that make up won't cover up.
|
Neosporin works wonders! Drink lots of water too!
Also if you don't usually wear foundation, now is a great time to start experimenting in case you need to cover it up, but you should be fine. Stay out of the sun, too, so it doesn't damage the burned skin anymore. :) |
OH My good ness I feel your pain !!! I've burnt myself with curling iron sooo many times !!!!!!!! I have a tiny scar on my forehead and one on my tummy from it.. Yeah I know it's weird.. I was doing a friends hair, leaned over to grab the brush, didn't pay attention where the hand holding the iron was while I reached, and of course your shirt goes up that little bit when you reach.. so viola tummy burn...) ne way... I'd say neosporin and use a moisturizer with alpha hydroxy in it... in my experience it should look faded enough to be hidden with foundation in a week for your
rush but may take up to a month to be invisible w/o make up :D |
Well, I must admit I don't do all of this stuff regularly. Not that I don't want to, it's just always been difficult for me to maintain. I get caught up with other things and my highlights grow out, or my nails break and the polish chips, and it's never been a big enough deal to me to be sure I get my roots touched up every 6 weeks, or I'll just stick to tweezing for a few months then find a half hour somewhere to get my brows done again. Another thing is that I'm always changing something (I get bored easily) so I figure I'll be blondish for a few months then go red, then back to brown. Sometimes I want pretty girly nails, then I go to work and realize they don't really work there, so when they grow out I won't get them filled. I don't wear make up everyday ususally (I get up way to early to put on eyeliner straight) but when I'm in school, it's a much more common occurance. Rush is just giving me a reason to get all glammed up for the beginning of school.

I want to get a manicure, closer to the time of actual rush -- I've never done that before either, but I just stopped biting my nails this summer, so I have nails now for the first time ever and I want them to look nice! I probably wouldn't do it without the excuse of getting ready for rush, but it's a good excuse!
Just to make sure (and to show how clueless I am about this stuff), you can get a manicure on your regular nails, right? Without getting acrylics or anything, just getting polish done nicely on my normal nails? |
yes, you can get a mani on your regular nails (thats what i do). they will shape them for you (oval, square, square with rounded edges...), give you a quick hand massage, and can do a french manicure or put any polish you want.
im warning you though- once you start getting manicures they are easy to get addicted to!! |
goodness....doesn't a foot facial sound good right now??
