that would be great. How do you get your insurance to cover any plastic surgery????

Insurance will only cover plastic surgery that is "medically necessary." This can include breast reduction if-
1. Other physical complications are resulting from the weight (i.e back pain, damage to shoulders from bra straps, etc.) These problems must be docuemnted by a physician.
2. A certain amount of fat must be removed for the surgery to be needed. If only a small amount is removed it is not viewed as enough to stop the pain or other symtpoms and, therefore, the surgery was cosmetic, not medical.

You should talk to your doctor about it if you are having complications that reduction would ease.

Reconstruction and augmentation or reduction of breasts are required to be covered under federal law after a mastectomy.

Most other surgery will not be covered unless it is being performed as part of the correction of an injury. Even then it may not be deemed medically necessary.

Hmm, I'd have a breast reduction and lift to a C cup (I'm DD now). I'd have liposuction on my inner thighs and lower abdomen. I'd have lasic eye surgery so I wouldn't have to wear glasses anymore. And I'd have my teeth cosmetically whitened.

Ditto. I have to say I'm surprised at how much people would have done if they could afford it. I am so used to how I look, I can't imagine having anything altered. I like me, all of me, flaws and all. Hell, if I could afford plastic surgery, I'd use that money to travel.

Now, I can understand the breast reductions, I don't want anyone to curve their spines.

I have a personal question for you all. Why would you change you? I've not seen any of you, but I've chatted with you all, and y'all are beautiful people. Why would you go under the knife? Is it something that YOU have never liked about yourself? Or does it stem from something OTHER people have told you that THEY don't like and you've internalized it? What is it that made you dislike whatever part of you that you want to change?

I agree...I think I am beauuuuuuutiful! The only things I would change about myself can also come about by me hitting the gym consistenly. I love my face, I love my rolls, I love my bootay, and I love my boobies. :D

@ NoworNever (HAAAY GURL!), I had considered doing the lasik eye surgery at one point, but I would be to scared to do that. I would be thinking, if they messed up...you can't get another pair of eyes! :eek:

Had lasik done nearly 5 years ago. . . didn't have any problems, but just remember as well, having the surgery doesn't guarantee that you'll NEVER wear glasses again. I wore glasses since I was nine years old, and for me, a day without wearing them maade the surgery worth it! As a matter of fact, astigmatism is recurring, so now instead of wearing one pair of glasses, I now have 2! One pair for the computer (I practically live on it at work) and one pair for distance vision, although I don't wear either pair all the time. I actually just got the ones for distance vision less than a week ago.

1SD, I felt the same way as you about the lasik surgery, and knowing what I know now, I don't know if I'd do it again.

Also, in terms of getting insurance to pay, if you have a flex spending plan, you can get money taken out of your check pre-tax and then use it to pay for the surgery. This will help you out on your taxes, but not defray the entire costs.

Are you serious?? This is the first that I've heard that the surgery wasn't for life! Due to sinuses I haven't been able to wear my contacts and was looking forward to doing Lasik later this year to be rid of these glasses. If you don't mind my asking what was your vision prior to the surgery? Are you an exception or is this hidden truth that will eventually come out?
