There are so many names that I like and I've noticed a few already listed. However, I just want to pick names that my children will be able to pronounce and spell.

Soror AKAtude you are so right we need names that our children can pronounce and spell.
There is nothing wrong with unique names (my daughter has one) but we need to think about the future.
I know a child named Yuhora pronounced U-ho-ra now, what kind of name is that? I would hate having to call her name everyday.

I've always been partial to
Sara Chenell (I like this name because Sara is a good Christian name and Chenell is my favorite cousin in the whole world).

Aja (pronounced Asia) Steely Dan had an album title of the same name and spelling and I've loved the name for over twenty years. If I ever do have children this will be the name I give her.

I would like to name my son Matthew (another good Christian name).

I have always liked Jasmine and Ophelia. My husband and I plan to start our family next year, so ya'll (I'm from Texas!) keep the baby names coming!

Well since I am a mommie to be (about 9 weeks till baby day)(I know I posted this before but I am excited!!)

I thought I would throw in my baby's name:

The DR. says it's a girl so her name will be
Cydney Ari

Now just in case it happens to be a boy:
Jayce Quenton

;) :D

I'm prone to classic names. I just think that we must stop giving our kids names that could trigger a resume being thrown in the circular file when they get into the job market.

For females, I like:

Laurel
Sophie
Madeline
Celeste
Cecile
Alexandra
Heather
Carolina
Alison

Boys I really haven't given a lot of thought to.

Well...

I can tell you what's not cute:

1. Naming your child after a city, state, or country (with the exception of places that are named after people or based off of a real name...like Alexandria or Victoria).

*I have a personal biased against this because many porn stars have names that are also countries. Please don't ask how I came across that fact... :D

2. Naming your child after a body part.

3. Naming your child after drink (with the exception of 'Brandy').

4. Naming your child after a fabric or other material/substance.

5. Naming your child after a brand of clothing (even if it IS already a person's name like Ralph Lauren or Michael Kors)!

6. Naming your child after a car (with the exception of Porsche).

7. Naming your child after a day, time, or number.

8. Naming your child something that is associated with a negative person or occurrence.

9. Naming your child after a dance style.

Naming a child is difficult because their name might not suit them in adulthood. Plus, certain names are associated with certain types of people. Some names conjure certain thoughts and stereotypes in people's minds.

If you were looking for a lawyer and I recommended a woman named Chyna and a woman named Ruth, which woman would you call first?

Would you rather go on a blind date with a guy named Todd or a guy named Shemar?

What picture does the named 'Dawn' bring?

What about 'Greta'?

David and Sherman. Who's the wimp, who's the he-man?

Where does someone named Shakila come from? Some people think 'ghetto', others think 'Arab'.

Just a thought...
