My FI and I were in high school when we started dating, and felt like we were just too young, and were also waiting for religious/moral reasons. When it became pretty clear that we were going to get married someday, we adopted the attitude of "why give up now."

Now, our wedding is 10 months away. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

That is a great old fashioned love story. :) Best wishes on your upcoming wedding.

Aww, thanks Cream.

We're not all "we're better than you" because of our decision - its something we keep very private, and only our good friends know about it.

At 17, I honestly thought I would be "wrong" if we had sex. The older and less naieve I got, I realized that wasn't true. But it just became sort of an endurance contest ;)

Plus, when you date someone for 6 years, you've got to have SOME surprises left for when you get married :)

Hey...I am personally still a virgin...which makes it funny, because somehow all the frat guys at my schoolio found this out, did not believe it at first, but now I guess it is somehow a game to bed me. (I don't know why they wouldn't believe it either, I'm not tease!) However, that will not happen...I don't know if I'm waiting for marriage, but personally, I'm waiting for someone I feel a great connection with.

I lost my virginity freshman year. I think that if I hadn't had sex then I would've by now anyway. Sometimes I think about what if I had waited, but I think I had reached a level of maturity where I was ready, and it was about that time. However, to all the virgins reading this, there's no rush to have sex. Really, there isn't. You can never regain that sense of innocence. Once it's done it's done. Granted, sex can feel GREAT, but sex carries with it ALOT of responsibility and headache (i.e. STD's, pregnancy, emotional involvement, etc.). I don't have sex with a woman unless I feel physical and emotionally comfortable with her. In my opinion, if you don't feel physically and emotionally comfortable with the person, you shouldn't have sex with them. In my opinion the one-night-stand is highly overrated. It feels so much better if you connect on another level.

I lost my virginity to a guy I was engaged to, after I planned to wait until marriage. I didn't break up with him for a long time because of that, but after I finally did, I was a little... more generous with my affections, shall we say? The whole time I wished that I had kept my commitment to wait, so I renewed that commitment and have been celibate for more than 3 years. I plan on remaining celibate until I'm married, and any guy that I date knows this. I am very impressed by girls and guys (I know quite a few) who have been able to keep their commitment to wait for marriage. I like sex, but I'd much rather it be new and special rather than routine when I'm married.
