second thing is i think if people don't accept us b/c of our letters then oh well they mean something to us and are very important to us too just because our letters spell "pez" doesn't mean anything so if they don't take us seriously i guess we'll just have to prove them wrong ;)

I agree about concerns over your letters. No chance I see in being called Rho Sigs or anything else. You'll be known as PEZ. But if you're okay with that, so be it. Everyone's GLO at one time or another has had their name twisted into something negative, it's just I hate to see anyone teased.

I don't really think Sigma "looks like an E." Even nonGreeks should be somewhat familiar with the Greek alphabet to know that "E" is Epsilon. But, to humor this discussion, my Sorority (Delta Sigma Theta) is DST, not DET.

I think you need to be accurate in your portrayal of your organization and others should be well informed as to what you are portraying.

PEZ does not equal Rho Sigma Zeta...spare yourself from having to explain that for years to come. There is a potential for both Greeks and nonGreeks to misunderstand what you're trying to do, and to ridicule you for (what they perceive as) your not knowing what your letters are.... :)

On another note:

I think the "PEZ" problem has to do with the accuracy of the Greek alphabet. Beyond that, I don't see why an organization, such as Rho Epsilon Zeta, would be heartbroken to be known as PEZ. Then again, I'm not familiar with the social ins and outs of nonBGLOs.

My main question is, are you starting a local to try to expand or to try to affiliate with a National?

If there is just a few of you, then, I would not worry about a pledgeship untill you reach a said amount of numbers of membership.

When I started mine, I worked to get 20-25 who became Founders of BX.

I had already designed the Badge, Pledge Button, Coat of Arms and Banner.

The reason guys joined was they did not feel they wanted to be part of existing Groups and felt like they wanted to be part of something new and could make it grow themselves.

Point out while it is "NEW", there is the ability to help be a part of something new!

Here again, it might make a difference of the type of and size of teh school and Greek Community on campus.

I have been there as some others have and all I can Do Is Wish You The Best of LUCk. It does take a lot of hard work and many tears to make it!:)
