Actually, the British Royal family's last name is Windsor. . . . There was some thought (fleeting) that when Princess Elizabeth married Prince Phillip that she would take his last name of Mountbatten. Alas the House of Windsor remained and the Duke of Edingburgh's last name is still Mountbatten - kind of an early modern thing (woman keeping her own last name) but for completely different reasons!

As far as who is more attractive, hands down Prince William! I find Ashton Kutcher obnoxious and not in the least attractive! Being royalty has nothing to do with liking Prince William. In a toss-up between William and Harry, William still wins. . . .

I've NEVER seen the physical appeal of William, either. I think it's more the "I wanna be a princess" syndrome (blech<-- just me, I was never that little girl). Although he's not ugly, he's just average to me.

I'd vote for my boy Ashton in a heart beat :D

I think William is a totallly hottie. I go in for the prepped-out slightly pretty boys though.

I just noticed something.. most of the replies have qualified the attraction by the (apparent) personality of the guy. Like "Ashton's got a good sense of humor". That has to be a girl thing.. the physical attraction being partially based on personality.

Because I think guys would judge SOLELY on who they think was hotter; i.e. who they'd rather sleep with.

Which explains why you often see hot girls with average guys, I guess.

Windsor is actually the royal house name. The younger members of the British royal family carry the surname Mountbatten-Windsor. So, it's HRH (His Royal Highness) Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales. He doesn't inherit the title of Prince of Wales until his father becomes King. (His father, when wearing military uniform, is usually addressed Captain HRH the Prince of Wales, or simply Captain Wales.)

BTW, the roots of the British Royal Family are more German than British. Before WWI, the Windsor family name was the house of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (after Victoria's husband Prince Albert). It was changed to 'Windsor' after anti-German sentiment erupted in WWI. Likewise, the Mountbatten family name was originally Battenberg. This one was much easier to Anglicize: 'Berg' = Mount and move the 'Batten' to the end.

The Spencer family side is actually older and more British than the Mountbatten-Windsors.

William has four names to chose from when he becomes King, or he could choose a totally different one. His great-grandfather, the late George VI, was known as Prince Albert, or 'Bertie' before he acceded the throne.
