RE: Kirk Franklin on Today
I'm glad someone is finally open enough to talk about this addiction. It's got to be the most common and rampant one in the country yet folks don't want to talk about it. Go figure.

I am watching the Kirk Franklin interview now and have been a fan since his first single but today I love, respect and admire him and Tammy more for showing this to the world.
Oprah, chill back and let Kirk talk. You keep interrupting. GRRRRR |

I'm really surprised the ladies are supporting Kirk. I thought he was a little cocky. I was surprised to learn he was adopted by a 64 year old female when he was 4 years old. I could not help but wonder if he has been molested.
My thing with Oprah, at times she acts like she is so removed from AA culture. She seemed shocked many AA men keep a stash of porn magazines. I'm not sure if folk in my age group still do but I remember before the internet older cousins had what we referred to as "dirty magazines." |

I didn't see Kirk as being cocky or arrogant about it. Maybe I'm biased but I saw him as being real. I applaud him for being able to not only overcome the addiction but to speak out about it. It's one thing to tell your wife, friends and family, but to sing about it and come on Oprah and really speak on it. . . WOW (for me) |
My fathe kept a stash as well. I don't think I've met a person without a male in the family who keeps a stash, even if it's well hidden. I have SO much more respect for Kirk & Tammy (even though I've been a fan forever). Oprah, as usual, irritated me. She wouldn't allow for Kirk to speak half the time without her interrupting him. I was SO proud of Kirk because while he was admitting his flaws, he held steadfast to his faith throughout the entire interview.

And DITTO re: Oprah. |
I'm just blown away. Hear we have a guy who so many Christians look up to and now we find out he is a "ho" as he put it - - - he is just like the rest of us. I'm not trying to be judgmental but he said he felt convicted by his sins and knew he was doing wrong from the time he began sleeping with girls at 9 and watching porn. Yet, he stood and preached the wages of sin until five years ago. I see him in a new light.
Also, "O" did not ask how he was able to overcome his addiction or did I miss the reply. |
