I used to live in South Texas - believe me, it could be MUCH worse! They have already seen temps in the 100's this year! :o

Right now the Metroplex is sittin' pretty at a cool 72, and the high should only be in the low 80's this afternoon

I visited El Paso in like May of 96. It was like 104 before noon. So yeah, what we get here isn't nearly as bad as it could be. Louisiana is about 5 times worse. It's all humdity

Nice picture... considering the Trinity River's nearly at flood stage! :) (Most times, it's a trickle.)

Noooooooooooooooo!
You can't move there! Then you won't be able to see me when I am "in town" for DG Convention.

lol yea! I found it online.. I thought a pic of the Dallas skyline at night might be too tempting to resist, and that one with the skyline reflected on the water just looked too cool :p

I left Dallas 3 years ago for the arid plains of West texas, and I absolutely love it here. But-all my friends and family are in Dallas, so we go back frequently (or we will after the Bar exam...). I don't want to go back to live b/c the humidity wreaks havoc on my allergies, and the traffic is horrid (I used to spend 2 hours a day in the car making a 40 mile round-trip commute to the office). GRRR. ON the weekends, I could get to my office in 15 minutes!

Lemme know if you want the scoop on the suburbs (few people live in Dallas proper--at least those with kids tend to stay out of the city). I had tihs conversation w/Crystal (a Surfing Sister who recently moved to Plano...one of the suburbs) a few months ago...she seems happy to be there.

DZ alum chapters abound--there are 4 active chapters: Plano-Collin County, Dallas, Arlington and Lewsiville-Lake Cities. Plano & Arlington are probably the most active. Closest collegiate chapter is in Arlington @ UTA.

Hope the job opp is a good one! YOu will definitely not be alone if you head to Big-D, DZs & GC'ers are everywhere...and you will never want for anything to do. Keep us informed!

That is so true. I don't think about it. I always say I am from Dallas. But I actually live in North Garland. And most of the time our activities have us in Plano. Especially living on the new George Bush Freeway. It is just one really big city to me.

lol I see it that way too. I don't live in Dallas proper, but I always tell everyone that's where I am, because if I use one of those cities around, no one knows where the heck I'm talking about. (Except for Plano maybe :) )

Please come on down and check it out. I love Texas - it just has everything!! I've lived here all my life and I can't really imagine living anywhere else. Yep, it is HOT in the summer, but I don't like cold weather so I don't mind.

You know you want to join us!! :)

I don't live in Dallas proper either. I live in Far North Dallas. Which is just a nice way of saying suburbs. I have a Dallas address, but I actually live close to Carrollton. (Carrollton is about a 2 second drive) I work in Plano. My job is about a 15-20 minute commute from my house. lol so yay I live i the burbs;)

What's that really cool red-circle building?

That's Reunion Tower, next to the convention center and Reunion Arena in downtown Dallas. The tall building with the green neon is the Bank of America tower (tallest building in Dallas).
