The DFW area seems to have dodged a bullet so far (except for a couple of nasty hailstorms last month), but according to the weather-guessers we might be in for some severe sh*t storms later this afternoon or this evening.
Plano has a pretty good emergency siren system; during tornado season, it's tested at least once a week, and blurts out a LOUD recording calling "TEST, TEST". It worked real well the night of the big hailstorm that rolled through Plano. No warning siren since it was a severe thunderstorm warning, but it called out "THUNDERSTORM WARNING" several times shortly before the bottom fell outta the sky. |
All towns in Metro Detroit have siren systems. I just meant if you have enough notice to take cover.
My old house in Riverview, they tested the sirens every first Saturday of the month. My new city does too, but it's a speaker system. Last Monday (I think) I was at CVS and I heard sirens going off. I had never heard them before like that, so it scared the crap outa me. Tornadoes are freaky shit. |
Our sirens here in Tulsa went off about 1:20 this morning. The tornado that made its way from OKC (again) came closer to me but missed by about 3 miles. Where I used to live got hit again...no major damage though, the tornado didn't touch down.

I wish something would have gone off before I started driving to dance class, looked up and saw a funnel cloud practically over my car. And what's with all this wind?? Good lord.
