I also agree with the topic statement. While I enjoy being out of school, I also miss being able to do whatever I want, when I want to. And it definately sucks being one of the few people out of your group of friends that has a real job! They just don't understand why I can't take off work to head to the beach or whereever the destination is! Oh well....all I can say is, I am making good money, and I am setting myself up for a good future! Other than that....real world jobs suck!!!!

just a little update on the job situation....first of all, i am a teacher. i have my master's intensive special needs education and i am the pdd specialist in an early childhood center. (pdd= pervasive developmental disorder; on autism spectrum)

ok, the job thing....my situation is soooooo screwed up. they told us they were replacing our program with an outside group....but never made the plans with the outside group to do that. the past 2 days have been a nightmare bc the principal and team chairperson were not aware that people from hr were meeting with us to fire us. they were also never consulted about the change to the program. the superintendent called my principal today and told her to do whatever it takes to keep me in district. i laughed and asked her what i would be doing if they gave my job to an outside company....it is one big fat mess. i am feeling much better than i was on tues. i am only unofficially laid off depending on a zillion things. i will be looking for a new job, but i have no idea what is happening. do i really want to work for someone who announces they are laying you off and giving the job to someone else...that they never even contacted????????

I don't know how it is where you live, but the education market here in CA is tough. Based on that, I would say stick with it until you can find something better. Who knows, maybe those people will get their heads out of their collective ***** and you'll enjoy working there again.

One positive about your job: if your superiors keep it up, then there should be plenty of room for advancement. :D
