33girl -- I know they can't ban us. Apparently on Thursday we will be getting something on the level of 20 "recommendations", that we must either live up to or....well I don't know. If you want, I could report what these are following my meeting for that. I was aware that legally they could not kick us off campus, so I took it with a grain of salt knowing that something will be done. Funny thing is, the Greeks on campus are not the ones who cause most trouble. Like the article stated, Greeks make up 3% of the students here. The people repeatedly getting in trouble on campus, for underage drinking are in fact not the Greek individuals. I wish that were mentioned, but it isn't newsworthy. :) I look forward to hearing these recommendations, as we still have no Greek Advisor, no one to lead us or give us advice. I have one more semester of being president, and I honestly look forward for it being over. The school is very unsupportive and I think their support would make a huge difference.
With drinking in particular, we have no houses, so really there are no huge parties that anyone throws, and it isn't like Animal House or anything. :) Compared to my old college, this Greek Life is BORING! :D There seriously isn't much fun to be had. |
PrincessPhiSig,
I forgot you were a Kutztowner (Kutztownian?:D) - if you could let us know what the results are that would be great. The only thing I can think of that they would do is not give IFC/Panhel any $$$, and if I recall those kind of things are determined by the student senate. It's not like there are houses on the campus that the school owns or controls. I mean what are they going to say - all Greeks must live on campus? That would be a lawsuit waiting to happen. That's so wrong that they are putting you under that kind of microscope when they don't even care enough to get you an advisor. |
33girl,
I know they won't give IFC or Panhel any monetary support, because they put those on moratorium a couple years ago. I was kind of shocked to see that neither existed and had wanted to at least get Panhel on its feet but that seems hard as I have tried to see why and who had done this. The Greek Council gets a good bit of funding, not to be mean, but way too much if you ask me considering we do not do all that much. That money could be put towards an advisor. I'm anxious to see how rush pans out without an advisor. It should be interesting, that's for sure. You should see a post about our recs tomorrow night. :) I am surprised they came up with 20...I can't think of 20 things that could be changed considering we have no houses. <sigh> :) |
We don't even have parties at the House and aren't allowed to drink in them even if the drinker is above 21. I think its a great thing.
