There was an article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution recently about fraud and ebay and other auction sites. Since I don't use these sites I didn't read it, but some of you might be interested. It was in Wednesday or Thursday's paper. www.ajc.com

A friend of mine had his identity stolen around 3 years ago. What was so odd about it is that the person(s) didn't go on a spree. They used his name to buy a car...and then made all payments on it in a timely manner. But what was worse is when they used his name so that they could sue someone (i.e. He said he was "John Smith" and sued someone else). It was all very bizarre. I think everything straightened out, but really you can't know until it's too late.

ARGH, Matey!
I just checked my statement, and I have an $80 charge from a credit check company. It was a 30-day free sign-up, and I canceled it within the 30 days, I am POSITIVE. I just disputed it, so keep ya'll's fingers crossed that I won't have to pay it. Until I start my job, $80 is a hefty sum. |

BTW, I Googled "CIC Credit Monitoring Services" and found that they've done this to a bunch of other people too. What ingrates! |
