Just wondering...If the back is stamped with A-725, would it be correct to assume that this is an Alpha chapter badge?

Wierdest description of an AGD badge, lol. :D

I wish that I could locate my original badge. It was a plain gold with the diamond center. I was from the late 70's and was so heavy. I lost track of it around graduation. It probably went to the dry cleaners.

I have another badge now-an all pearl Alpha. I just hate that it is not my own.

I just bought this one. It was expensive, but I got it away from a pin collector, so I don't mind too much.

If anyone is interested in the (Tau) chapter guard, PM me and let me know.

Did anyone see the pearl badge with the diamond on ebay? The seller cancelled the auction. So there is no way to know if the new owner is an Alpha Gam. Very frustrating. I was bidding for that one.

here is one that is not listed as agd specifically. it is my favorite agd badge...with the pearls on the a.....if only i were an agd...lol. so far it is at a reasonable price, too!

i picked this one up - not too bad of a price either. still not sure if the A-725 means that it's an alpha chapter badge though.

Here's another one, but it's only listed as Alpha Delta, so it wouldn't come up on a normal search:

There's also a mother's pin up for sale:

We lost this one to a dealer/trader or something. You can see in his history he buys and sells. He won a gamma phi badge not too long ago. Ugh!

mu_agd 07-14-2003 03:02 PM

not quite sure...

hey everyone, this is listed as an alpha gam badge but i don't recognize it. was the badge ever designed like this:

I have no idea what that pin is, but I'm almost positive it is not an Alpha Gamma Delta badge.

The very first pins were a monogram, but the Delta was on top instead of the Alpha. The Founders didn't like the design and it was discarded within the first year or so.

Other than that first "draft", the Badge's design has always been the one we know, love, and wear today.

(Edited to add: that first design was discarded in the first few months. The Founders were wearing the present Badge design by November 1904.)

ok thanks! i didn't think it was an alpha gam badge, but i wanted to make sure!

greeklawgirl 07-14-2003 03:36 PM

No problem! :)

Speaking of the first design, I wonder what happened to those badges. As far as I know, there were only 11--maybe 12--of them ever made. Were they melted down? Are they in IHQ's archives? Or are they floating out in the antique market somewhere, waiting for an Alpha Gam who knows what they truly are to find them?

I would think that if you found one...well, to an Alpha Gam it would be the equivalent of a Holy Grail.

AGDLynn 07-14-2003 07:24 PM

Isn't it Alpha Phi that has a "lazy lettered" badge? This one looks more like a smushed AGD badge!;) :p

AGDZO Susan 07-15-2003 09:52 AM

Our Founders badges are at IHQ on display. Can't recall if all of them were there or not.
