I had Viral Meningitis (the "good" kind) last year and had to spend a week in the hospital. Not fun stuff! :(

A question for the people who have had meningitis:

Do you have any residual symptoms or problems now as a result of the illness? How long did it take to recover? I ask because I read that a patient is never the same after this type of ilness.

Actually, I had two question. :) I am very happy that you are well now. :)

Well, the worst side effects I had were readjusting to the "real world" after being in solitary confinement (read: ICU) for 14 days (that's how long you are required to take the antibiotics intravenously). Like, just to be able to actually walk OUTSIDE was strange to me for a little while.

I had terrible stomach cramps for about a week after the hospitalization as well. I had to get daily injections in my abdomen though, so that was probably just the antibiotics running their course.

I have been totally healthy for about three months now (I got in in January), and I thank God and the hospital that I made it through.

I had no idea that you had such an awful illness so recently. I am so sorry that you were ill and went through all of that. I am very happy that you are well now. :D
