Okay, the concept was at least laughable, but I guess he just went too far when he kept using the "N" word, and I just felt it was in poor taste for a show that plays to 'mixed' company. Some of the other shows that you guys have mentioned sound funny enough though.

i remember that epi and i too was cringing over the use of the 'n' word but i was so taken aback by the concept that for me it overshadowed the 'n' word usage. dave chapelle can be very vulgar but if you can look past that, i think you will find him much more enjoyable.

I have seen Dave Chapelle's stand up quite a few times and I never thought that he was funny. I figured that the show wouldn't be funny either, but it really is. Conversations with a black man and the real version of popular movies are hilarious.

I LOVE that show! Most of the time he's sooo wrong, but it's sooo right! lol Very funny, for those who haven't seen it!

I saw the show for the first time this past weekend. I was shocked that he was repeatedly allowed to use the "N" word, but was censored when other curse words were used. I think that sends a pretty strong message about what is acceptable on television these days, but thats a whole other topic.

One of Vibe's 20 Questions:

Why is Dave Chapelle's show on Comedy Central everything we hoped Cedric the Entertainer's sketch disaster would be?

AKA2D '91 01-28-2004 10:25 AM

This is a reminder for those who don't normally watch. Please check out Dave's show. Some of the skits are hilarious! :D

So true so true.

I catch it intermittently but I did see last week's ep over the weekend. I will definitely check it out tonight.

The Chappelle Show is probably the funniest show on TV right now..well College Hill does premier tonight(could possibly be the funniest show:p :p :p )

His comment on R. Kelly was right on the money. That was funny.

The race draft had me ctfu when the delegate for whites was negotiating with the black delegate.

OMG Cedric's show was such a "wanna be" Carol Burnett Show (sketches, dancing numbers, etc.). Whomever came up with that formula for Ced's show should go back to doing high school theatre.

I love the Chapelle show. He is a good replacement for The Chris Rock show. :(

Oh, and I SWEAR everytime I see Dave, I think of J.J. from Good Times.

Did you all see the skit where Dave played Rra? OH my gawd! LOL

I didn't like the show when it first came out, but it's cool now. I guess you can't have your PC hat on when you watch it.

AKA2D '91 01-28-2004 02:56 PM

Comedy Central doesn't know anything about PCness

HELL NAW!
