I understand why we called them Rho Chis (Rho=Recruitment and Chi=Counselor, sounds the same, yada, yada, yada). Wouldn't Rho Kappa have worked just as well? It gets the same idea across, and I don't think that name is being used by another national organization.

Anyway, this announcement is a day late and a dollar short. It probably would have been more helpful a few years ago when the whole Rho Chi debacle started.

Bet there is a local Sigma Rho Chi fraternity and/or sorority out there somewhere, lol!!

From what I understand, Rho Chi is the name of a chemisty honors society or something to that effect. I was told that they threatened to sue if we didn't stop using the term.
Rho Chi is a pharmacy honorary that has been around a lot longer than Panhel has been using the term. How would you like it if, for example, fraternities decided to have rush guides and called them Phi Mus, or Alpha Phis, or Alpha Xi Deltas? You wouldn't!

I wasn't arguing or disagreeing with the issue. Just stating what I was told about it.

Our school uses Alpha Chi for first counselor

I don't really understand why Recruitment Counsellors need to have a "Greek Name" anyway? Recruitment Counsellor sounds fine to me.

FWIW: I think "Sigma Rho Chi" is too long of a name.

I think it came about when disaffiliation rules started getting more strict. They realized that the RC's were feeling kind of left out of things and making a "sorority" out of it lessened some of that. It's a lot easier to put "P X" on a shirt than spell out the words LOL.

Yeah, at our school, they are now "RC's"

When I went through 'rush' they were called rho chi's on my campus. Now they are called Pi Rho Chi's (Panhel Recruitment Counselor).
