ON Gamma won highest Canadian GPA, and HM fo VP Metal and Community Service. Plus one of our members won an Arrowmont scholarship this year.
I'm so proud of my ladies! |
Yay for Ontario Gamma!!!! :D
Cherub and Carnation that Song was beautiful!! I hope you two placed!! Cherub you'll have to come and teach us that song ( I know we're not the best singers but we'll try :) ) Convention 2005, I am so there! |
Oh, I loooooooove that song. That is my favorite carol and it was very easy to sing along to, even though I was not in the chorus. I hope a lot of chapters picked up on it because it would be great for a pref party!
I'm totally blanking on what song won that category though, and it isn't in the Tuesday "Daily Dart" (that's the convention newsletter. |
Karen,
Do you happen to know when the website with convention info will be updated.. ? I looked to see if there was any for the daily dart online yet. :) Thanks |
I'm thrilled you all liked the song. Carnation and I hope it travels back to chapters as well. How awesome would it be to hear it sung at pref?!
I keep checking the wesite, as I'm earger to read the Daily Dart for this year, since I attend convention vicariously through it :D And, the suspense is KILLING me about the song. Can't wait for the awards page to be updated. |
Ok, seriously...when is the awards page/Daily Dart going up on the website?
I'd love to see the list of new officers...didn't Barbara LaMaster get a new position? Anyone have any idea about what was presented at convention??? |
They keep telling us that the convention section and the awards will be updated "any day". The webmaster said it's coming... check the message board on the members-only side. I get mail from headquarters every week and haven't gotten the official awards list yet.
Our new logo was presented in a dynamic, very professionally done video that speaks to Pi Phi's mission. Chapters will all get a copy this fall ( would be great for recruitment... it's only 8 minutes long with upbeat music, positive comments) The fraternity's new philanthropic project, Champions are Readers was presented. This will strengthen and provide some direction to Links to Literacy. Leading with Values, the comprehensive collegiate membership development program was presented and is detailed on the web. This program gives structure, organization, rationale and ideas for all collegiate programs... and it allows local chapters much more oppportunity for individual decision making as to what will benefit their members. Newly installed Grand Council are: GP: Emily Tarr GVPC: Linda Ibsen GVPA: Mary Tatum GVPF: Karen Price GVPM: Barbara LaMaster GVPP: Betsy Cantlie GVPPD: Karen Chevalier Newly installed Directors are: Academics: Karen Gunther AAC: Micheal Bettin Alumnae Communication: Elisabeth Young Alumnae Extension: Jill Meynan Alumnae Programming: Babara Fay Chapter House Corporations (East): Laura Fulton Chapter House Corporations (West): Lyn Clark Chapter Support (Region 1): Shannon Ross Chapter Support (Region 2): Susan Robinson Chapter Support (Region 3): Diane Bielman Collegiate Extension and Rush: Luellen Smith Collegiate Programming: Bimi Huebner Finance: Rae Maier Fraternity Education: Jane Heiserman Membership: Kim Barger Happy to share any other information... just ask... |
I received my alum club's bulletin today, and found out former first lady Barbara Bush is a new alumna initiate with Texas Eta. How cool is that?!
|
Yes, you are correct... Among the prominant members of Pi Beta Phi, we can claim Barbara Bush as one of our own. She chose to become an alumnae initiate last winter but didn't want it publicized. It was officially announced at Convention so when you see those "famous members" threads, it IS true that Barbara Bush is a Texas Eta Pi Phi!

Cherub,
I had the opportunity to go visit Convention this year and was a part of the Choir for a day...then Collegiate sessions just got to crazy. But I have to agree with everyone, if you get the chance to attend Convention, it is the most amazing thing you will ever attend. Even if it means that you don't get much sleep and have to buy coffee from Starbucks every morning :D My Chapter was fortunate enough to win Song awards in both "original" composition and "light parady" composition for collegiate members. Was really exciting!! For those ladies that I was fortunate to meet this year in Anaheim, Hello!! For those ladies that I haven't had the chance to meet just yet, maybe I might meet more of you in Tampa Bay. Really excited about that...Saving up now!!! |
Thanks for the Grand Council/Directors update, Karen! I can now send out my notes of congratulations (let's just hope Canada Post doesn't strike!)
UA Angel, I heard that you guys did really well in the song competition from my CP. Congratulations! I haven't seen the song book, but will look yours up as soon as I do. And yay Pi Phi for yet ANOTHER first lady. How exciting :) Well, I'm half-better with my craving for convention news. Now if the Daily Dart would only get up and running! I'm sure Meredith is really busy getting all the bugs out of the new site. *sigh* Patience is a virtue, they tell me :D |

Thank you.... I am looking forward to serving the Fraternity for another two years.
|
Is it me or is the Daily Dart still not up yet? I am very anxious to read all about convention. Anyone know when it will be posted?
|
It's not up yet. I know that the webmaster has been VERY busy since Convention. With so much of the fraternity manuals and resources going online as well as the new design for the website, it has been a monumental change. They just upgraded the pibetaphi.org email system (all officers and chaptes have email addresses there) and finished making all the changes for new officers being elected. I know she's trying to get the Daily Darts up as quickly as she can. They've posted some, but not all of the award winners though! Be patient... they're coming!
