Edwards, Lieberman, and Kerry
Grace and Peace from God through Christ.
After looking over the army of Democrats, Senator Edwards out of NC impresses me because of his enthusiasm. I don't think we have ever had a president from NC, have we? I like Kerry too although I'm still trying to figure out his platform on education and the war. I realize that Lieberman is definitely pro war. That may stand in his favor as a moderate Dem. As for President Bush, I have more confidence in his leadership than I had a year ago today, but I still wonder where his outstanding non-war policies are. I think its a toss-up whether he will get re-elected. Probably so. Regardless, I'll try to support the President as much as I can. :) |

I'm a Conservative Democrat.
I was talking to my mother a little while ago about politics. She said something that really summed things up for me. She said that most Black Americans are conservative in their viewpoints. We are a religious people that believes in the worth of family values and hold many traditionally conservative views. But, what we want, that Republicans fail to address (in my opinion), is equal opportunity and equal access. If Republicans would concede to and initiate legislation that would improve our positions in this country, I think that most Black Americans would vote and support Republicans. There was a thread a while back where the majority of posters were expressing conservative views. |

As for me, I can't support the GOP because that party just won't purge itself of bigots. Yeah, it's easy to say we don't like David DuKKKe because he's so obvious, but they don't try to root out the clowns who are more subtle. |
I feel u SteelTrap. I tried hard to be repub at one point, but I just can't associate myself with some of the people that roll hard in their party.

See, I'm conservative in my personal life. However, I'm a registered democrat. I feel that both parties are not about the average Joe Blow and are owned by the lobbyists. But I chose to register as a democrat as the lesser of 2 evils.
You succintly described the reason why majority of Blacks are not republicans (and BTW I believe Colin Powell is more of a democrat than a republican - he is pro-choice and affirmative action). BJ Quote:

Strictly democrat! I loved the CLINTON years...

I'm independent. I see the good and bad in both parties and if I believe that a Republican can do a better job than the Democrat or whoever is running for that position then I will vote for me. Nine times out of Ten, the Democrat wins out and I still end up disatisfied...:( . Oh well, the nature of politics I guess.

Party affiliation

I'm a Democrat. If I had my choice, I would select Joseph Biden(Vermont) to be the Democratic Nominee. He's real about most issues, and he aint no punk. |

But are these cats electable?
I would think that the more electable choice, because elections are won at the centre, would be Lieberman or John Edwards, the senator from North Carolina. I think Dean/Biden would get the activists in the primary, but don't know if it would translate in the general election.

I am a registered Democrat. I now live in a VERY REPUBLICAN STATE -- North Carolina, home of Libby Dole. :(
I hope EDWARDS, Democrat in NC runs for president. |
