Hello Sorors,
Last May I graduated from undergrad, and thus into a graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha . I was the only one from our line to graduate and go on to grad chapter and I feel a bit alone. The meetings are very busy and often the older Sorors are debating issues that I do not even understand!! I`m a pretty quiet person, also very impatient. Last Saturday was just my 4th meeting as a graduate Soror, but I want to feel connected NOW. Have any of you ever had this experience? What should I do to cope? Thanks for your help

Tahitian...I am glad that you brought this up. I am going to join a huge graduate chapter in Philly. Even though I was a graduate advisor and committee member in a graduate chapter in the Great Lakes region, this is going to be an exciting transition for me as well. Hey, older Sorors can use advice too :D

This is a great topic! I too, transitioned last year into a new grad chapter in my area, and i happened to know several members since several of them or my soror mom's friends (she's in another chapter in the city)..I immediately felt welcomed and when it was time to pick between the 2, i chose the one that fit me best...(fyi: my mom is a charter member of another chapter) and i've loved it ever since...i've found my niche and i'm already serving on the executive committee and other chapter offices...now i'm just learning how to say no to some things! Having great mentors and friends in the chapter is making it easier for me to get adjusted, so I would definitely say to seek out people like you and get involved!
