The former is fine, the latter is very similar to having little sisters and outlawed by most national fraternities.

This is how it is with Phi Mu Alpha. Little sister groups are prohibited. Chapters may choose a chapter sweetheart (exactly how this is done would depend on chapter tradition and practice). Chapters may only have one sweetheart at a time and may not a have a group or association of former sweethearts.

Sigma Pi's Eta Rho Chapter in Ottawa has one and only sweetheart forever here-Amy L'homme who was a member of my sorority Xi Delta Theta roll -069- . She was dating a Sigma Pi until the time that she lost her battle with cystic fibrosis. She is even in the Chapters portrait for that year. Every year here girls claim that they are sweethearts of Sigma Pi but they will never be. Its a kinda of special bond that ties the two together. Every year we have A.L.L spirit weekend-a fundraising weekend dedicated to Amy to raise money for cystic fibrosis and Sigma Pi comes and helps out.

My chapter just chose our new Sweetheart, and Scarlet Court. Each fraternity on campus has a similar formula. Its usually like Homecoming Court- There's the Sweetheart and her court (also girls that that chapter elects. Pi Kappa Phi has their Rose Queen and court, and Pike has the Dreamgirl and court. The others really don't do anything. Sigma Nu is the ONLY fraternity that openly has official Little Sisters on our campus.

My chapter elects girls based on their dedication to our fraternity. We choose 7 girls, and they are usually in sororities (but not always). They are presented, serenaded, and usually given a letter shirt (that is the only thing of the fraternity they are allowed to wear). Our sweetheart goes on our composite, and represents Kappa Sigma during Homecoming.

This year our Sweetheart is an Alpha Xi Delta. Our Scarlet Court consists of 2 more AxiD's, 2 DZ's, a Zeta, and a Phi Mu

Just About Every SigTau Chapters has a sweetheart which is voted during Our White Rose Formal. The Criteria is the same: Based on the amount of time spend helping and promoting the fraternity

None of the women in my sorority have ever been sweethearts and I don't know why because we are one the best sororities around. I feel that we are all beautiful and very smart. However, most of the girls (not my sorority sisters) that hang around most of the fraternities are their little groupies who would do anything to be with a fraternity guy. Which I think is so sick.

I just thought being a sweetheart would be something really nice. The guy that we chose as our sweetheart is not in a fraternity because we felt that none of the frat guys that we know were worthy of that tittle.

I don't know maybe that's why none of Phi Sig's have been choosen as a sweetheart.

Hmm well my mom is my frats current sweetheart, usually its someones gf though. the way we go about choosing her is about a month before homecomming (we have a huge homecomming reuinion brunch every year) the actives nominate women who have done things to show they love us and have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help us out, then we vote and whoever wins gets announced as the new sweet heart at the homecomming brunch. Then all the actives/alums sing her a sweet heart song and give her a plaque and a dozen roses.
