Matt,

Thanks for the good words. Actually the badges are the easy part, although the most expensive. The hard part is putting it all together in a secure display and getting the histories and other paraphernalia together for a coherent and consistent presentation. That's the part that's driving me crazy. How do you do that? I don't know.

When I started this I had no idea how many GLOs there actually are, or were. I have about 150 and still don't have the 'good ones'.

I lost a Paedagogus tonight but that's okay. Another will come along. I'd like to get a complete set of those, the older ones are way cool - lots of writing those guys had to do! In fountain pen or pencil. There are also pledge manuals of other fraternities I'll pick up, but only if one of theirs isn't bidding on it.

I like meeting all kinds of people on eBay and everyone has his own goals. If you're cordial, you can get to know alot of guys from all over the country. I've never met anyone who wasn't sincere - whether Lambda Chi, TKE, Sig Ep, Sigma Pi, KA....you name it.

We understand each other, recognize the value of each other's organizations, respect them, and come to the realization that rivalries have a certain half-life.

It's all good with fraternities. Sororities are a whole different story, and I really don't want to get into that because some of them can be absolute witches. (Oops, should I have said that?)

Ebay is like football. If you're not prepared to get beaten and possibly lose, don't play.

Jono

badges

I just wanted to put the offer out there...If anyone has a second Theta Kappa Nu badge that they're willing to part with, I would willing to pay at least what the person paid for it.

does anyone know a dbrasco13? They are currently outbidding me on a Paedegogus.

JonoBN41 01-18-2003 01:35 AM

I hate to put it this way and wish I could supply a TKN badge to every brother I know, but that's not possible. They really are very rare and hard to find, but I listed one tonight anyway. They have previously sold for $400 - $600 so you might find a bargain here. I'm telling you guys first in hopes it stays with a Lambda Chi.

I'm not looking forward to saying goodbye to this one, but...you know...

the TKN badge on Ebay

Well, the price on that auction now is getting too rich for my blood. Jono was right on the money when he said those pieces run up to $400-$600. It was nice to at least bid on such a rare, beautiful piece.

Matt, could you expect any less? I paid 468.00 for mine with 7 diamonds and Alabama Alpha guard with pearls! This had to cost someone a lot of money with all Diamonds. The one Jono is selling is very nice with the pearls. I would like to get more info on who had mine and who he was.

It looks like this will go higher yet! I now the bidder who bid next the the high bidder!

If you want a TKN, you had better have deep pockets and dig into them! I hope this bidder is a LXA Brother.

I know mine is pre merger Da, and Alabama Alpha is old. I got at the rigth time and right place. I was not going to lose the one I bought as was going to the wall for it.

Matt if you havent, look at the last bid! 408.00

TKN is few and far between, so if you want one save your pennies a alot!:D

MattJackson5 01-22-2003 03:48 PM

If I had more money right now, I'd be digging real deep for it!! Now I know for future reference how much these little treasures go for. Next time I see a TKN badge on EBAY, it'll be mine!! I certainly hope that a Lambda Chi wins the auction--something like this I would hope doesn't go to a random collector.

Matt

Actually these little treasure aren't as little as one might think. Even though the am pin is designed after it, it's really a bit larger than most LCA badges.

MattJackson5 01-24-2003 05:20 PM

Wow, even bigger than most Lambda Chi badges? My badge that I had before the one that you sent to me, is bigger and I figured fraternity badges didn't get any bigger.

$1000 TKN badge

So was the person who paid $1000 for the TKN badge
on Ebay a Lambda Chi???

I'm editor of an alumni newsletter for our TKN alums
(a couple of dozen still alive)...I'll have to let them
know not to throw away their badges if they still
have one.

Even rarer, a TKN pledge pin...hard to identify,
because there are no letters/writings on them.
Have never seen one on Ebay.

Just to let you know, I'm JOINERLXA on Ebay, and
I usually bid on TKN stuff (but $1000 for a badge
is too rich for me!).

So if you're worried about a "non-member" getting
something, don't outbid me! Of course, you'll
probably outbid me since you want it for yourself,
and that's fine ;)

Kevin, any way I could get on that mailing list? I knew Doc Feist from Drury but was many years back when had a small Alum Group in KC! Was meeting at the House of one of the then GR H Z, Bill Hill , the then GH Pi!

As you know I have the AA TKN Badge that you and I discussed many sometimes back! I was is error, it only has 7 Diamonds and the rest pearls with pearled AA guard!

Dang, I would love to have a TKN Pledge pin!

My major collection consists of:

APO, BX (local I Founded), LXA, and TKN!!!!!

I am a member of all of these.

All will be going to the Chapter!
