I'm still not sure where I stand on the issue. I don't think I would have a problem with it, but the fact is I've really never had to deal with it because I've never seriously dated a guy who is into strip clubs, or who even goes to them.

I don't have a problem with my husband going to strip clubs...I know he's coming home to me. Hell, I've even gone with him and some of his friends on three different occasions. The funny thing is is that I get more attention when I go into a strip club than the guys do. The last time I went with a group one of the dancers talked me into going up on stage. I laughed my ass off and the guys just couldn't believe that I did it.

Damn, those girls make good money. If I had a bigger set of ta-ta's I might consider a career change, lol.

I have a ethical problem, as a woman, with strip clubs because I don't like to see my fellow members of the fairer sex degrading themselves. I would have an issue with dating someone who thinks that it's "harmless fun" ONLY because how would he feel if that was his sister, mother, me up there? It's wrong, and women are wrong for agreeing to work at places like this.

I also think male strippers are really not all that talented and I don't go to any sort of those types of "male revue" clubs...ICK!

I'm not a prude by any means, I just question how someone really feels about themselves when they seek approval based on their appearance.

I don't care if my husband goes to a strip club. Never have, never will. It's just a way to spend the evening with his buddies and I'm not insecure about it because I trust him, I know he loves me and I know I look just as good as the girls writhing around on the poles (and mine are even real! lol)

Ya know, I'm going to print out this thread and shove it in my girls' faces..of course they have guys they don't really trust so..that might have a take on their judgement... :p

I'll bet you look a whole lot better. The few times I've been in "gentlemen's clubs," the women there were average at best -- and that's being kind.

Question: If a woman makes the choice to work at a strip club, how is she being degraded?

A: she's not being degraded, she made a choice to work at a strip club. If she does encounter degrading acts by patrons of the club she reserves the right to quit.


About ethical issues, I noticed an ethical problem in the post by sigmagrrl regarding the quote "I don't like to see my fellow members of the fairer sex degrading themselves."

This could be considered an ethical issue simply becaue you refer to females as the "fairer sex."

I agree completely. I'm sure that there are women who find it empowering to work at strip clubs. Just because one woman would find stripping degrading and therefore decides not to do it doesn't mean that all women working in strip clubs are degraded in one form or another. I'm just curious to hear why someone would think that it's automatically degrading to work at a strip club.

Have you ever seen a male strip show? My BF used to be a stripper and he's great at it, he looks good, has the body for it and is talented! I love they way he dances.

There are some truely talanted male strippers out there too.

I know you're thinking I must be crazy to date him, but I realize that it's just a job and the only interest he had in the women that watched him was their dollars.

They are being degraded, simple as that. Treated as sex objects. And if you look a little further down, I ALSO said that these same women are making VERY poor choices.

Please, you act like you don't know what degraded means....It means being treated with less than the respect we each should demand and we each deserve.

C'mon, if these were "good" places, why aren't children allowed to see the show? Why aren't children and teenagers encouraged to see this as a quality line of work to go into instead of college? "Suzy, I know you've been thinking about which college to go to. I'd like you to browse this brochure. It shows how much money you could rake in, just by spreading your legs!" Just stop it! Why don't you see a stamp of approval from several religious denominations? "After church today, I'd like you all to please go down to the Foxy Lady and see parishoner Rebecca take her clothes off and look at her lovely breasts and vagina! THE ONE GOD MADE !"

Why you don't see them in certain, prestigious neighborhoods?You try to open a strip joint in Potomac, MD or Great Falls, VA (for those who may not know, these are areas with $1.0M homes and higher), and see how quickly you get denied that permit!

But, I do have to say this one thing: I can't fix this problem alone. People seem to think it's ok, so go if you want. I can't stop you. But, you cannot say that on some level, in some tiny amount, this "profession" doesn't bother you...What if your daughter did this? What if you walked into the club, fully erect, ready for a hot show and your sister came on out, naked as the day she was born? How ok with this would you be then? When these women are up on stage, they are nameless and you aren't exactly looking at their faces. Bring it into your own home, and see how happy you'd be....

She's someone's daughter, she's someone's sister/cousin/friend.

Give her some dignity...

well, call me crazy, but i'm pretty sure if you walked into a strip club with a raging hard boner sticking out they would throw you out. And the girls don't come out naked, they work their way down to it. :D
