Happy Founders Day to the brothers of KS! My father and father-in-law were both brothers of your great fraternity -- I guess they still are brothers in the Chapter Celestial.

Kappa Sigma claims its roots in a secret fraternal society established by Manuel Chrysoloras in 1400 at the University of Bologna, where some of Kappa Sigma's founders studied for a time. Reputedly, much of Kappa Sigma's secret work is derived from these Bolognese roots. That's a pretty good summary, and AEKDB to your father and step-father in the Chapter Celestial.

Essentially, the American Founding of 1869 was a re-founding of an older organization, established in 1400.
