if he's not yet established, or just out of college, he should have a clean place. not anally clean, but not a pig-sty
if he's older, he should have some nice things. no more bean bag chairs or flip-n-fucks. time to grow up! |

Flip-n-F**K!!! Ha ha, haven't heard that for awhile.
Rudey, they are those cheap, foldout couch/chair things. They are like the predecessors to futons. |

I would check out the bedroom and see how clean that is. Generally when a bunch of guys live together the house can be a mess but at least if they keep their personal space clean that's a positive! :) Also, I look around to see if they have anything around that will let me know about hobbies.

Anyhow.. As far as women's apartments go.. I really don't pay all that much attention and don't think I'd care one way or the other unless I lived there. |
The first time I went to my exfiancee's house was last year over new years. First of all the place he lived was BAD A$$! Like three swimming pools, gated entry, townhome-like instead of apartments.
Then we entered his place and the kitchen was messy. Like he didn't own a mop and so the floor hadn't been cleaned (BLAH). The overall set up and furnature was a little more reassuring. He had black leather couch. Matching coffee and end tables. Nice lamps. Huge entertainment center. Everything black and white. Then we went upstairs to the bedroom/bathroom. The toilet was also nasty (no toilet brush either). But he had a nice shower curtain that matched the color of the walls in the room. The bedroom was pretty nice too. He just was messy is all. Very good, expensive taste though! So I guess he was into putting on a front like he had a lot but really he didn't. Oh well! |

My ex lived in a small apartment in NYC and had a Murphy bed. I thought that it was kind of weird at first, but it was great because it was out of the way when it wasn't in use. I've never heard it called a flip-n-f@*&. :p

What are those things called that are beds but in the wall then when you go to sleepy time you pull them down?
|
A Murphy bed

flip-n-f***s are found in a lot of dorm rooms. the fold up to be low to the gournd chairs with short backs and when they were onfolded they were beds with the low back turned into the pillow. they ae great when friends come to visit.

It definitely needs to be clean - free of any sort of odors, mold, etc. Neat is a plus, but I don't expect it to be immaculate by any means. I'm never thrilled with pictures of naked/half-naked women plastered everywhere. Sure, a guy has his magazines and his video collection and that's fine, but cutting them out and pasting them up on bulletin boards or walls is a big turn off for me. I always check the food - you can tell a lot about a person by what they have in their kitchens. I also like to see if a guy has any books (non-school books) and what kind they are.
