it's not exactly our midnight song, but everytime we're all together and we hear "Living on a Prayer" we'll stop everything. that's why it took 10 minutes longer than necessary to do our bid day pictures

My chapter does our own version of Sweet Home Alabama, and Area Codes...substituting Ho's for Bro's

"Paradise by the Dashboard Light" is a cool, looooooonnnnngggg song by Meatloaf where he describes how he made it with some girl in the front (or back?) seat of his car. It's a funny song.

For the Deephers at Pitt, our get ROWDY song is "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppord. Even during between rounds at rush, I put on the song and we would get up on the sofas and scream the words. Effective way of letting off steam. And then, our official chapter song is "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper. Usually, at every social event, we make a huge circle and exclude any guy there and just cry.

I think every sorority is cheesy in that way with one song. It's like the black pants rule - you can't be a true sorority girl without one. :D

We don't have one per say, that we do all the time.. but the two org's I hang out with do...Theta Xi's is American Pie...and ATO's is Piano Man...

Suppose I could've added that to my last message, eh? ....

It's a Pi Kapp song. I’m curious to how DigitalAngel herd it since we don’t have a chapter at Ball State. Possibly at the Alpha Psi Chapter at Indiana University? Anyways like I said it’s a Pi Kapp song that is generally not sung in front of women due to its lyrics.

At the end of formals, we played "We are Family" by Sister Sledge but substituted D Phi E for family. We also played "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang.
My pledge class song was Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" with different words.
Well I remember rushing D Phi E as if it happened only yesterday.

Hi Kevlar281,

Did your organization originate the song? I ask because Chi Phi's at Humboldt State University sing the song as well. However, they don't care if there are any women around or not, they just sing away! By the way, I think others sing it also (not sure).

-No Shame

So that's what a midnight song is! We have our own version of Mitch Miller's "Drunk Last Night" as our midnight song.

Kevlar, almost every fraternity at my school has it, and they ALL sing it in front of women. seranadings at my school are usually more dirty than anything else. I know it cou;dn't even have begun with Pi Kapps here because to the best of my knowledge we've never even had them on our campus.

I heard it on a weekly basis, still do :) They're not afraid to sing it in front of us...in fact, we all know the lyrics (well, those of us that practically live at the house), and we even chime in on the 'yo hoe's'.... Always a good time, always a good memory ;)

Yes I am sure there our similarities considering it’s a rather old drinking song but I promise there has been much revision and personalization. Just like how Pi Kappa Phi’s ‘The Rose’ has a very strong similarity with a sweet heart song of Sigma Chi’s, since they were both based of a Navy Song. Either way Yo Ho or Yo Hoe depending on how you spell it; has been known and recognized at a National Conference so I have no problems referring to it as ours.

In my chapter it was always "Margaritaville" by Jimmy Buffett.

LXA

My significant other is a brother of Lambda Chi Alpha, and everywhere I have gone, LXA chapters get down to "Magic Carpet Ride" every chance they get... would that be considered their "midnight song"?
