School Daze is a movie about sororities and fraternites. It shows hazing of pledges, a rivalry, and party. plus a step show competition among the fraternities. the ending is kinda strange though

I only heard about this movie since I work at a video store. It is called, "The Fraternity." Other than the title, I don't know anything about it! Also, I haven't seen this one either but it is called something like, "True Confessions of a Soroity Girl," something along those lines. It has Alyssa Milano from Who's the Boss and another girl, I think her name is Jamie. But, that is supposed to be a comedy.
The Fraternity is basically a B movie version of the Skulls, which in itself wasn't even a good movie.

This is true. It doesn't necessarily need a storyline...

That's how they made Cruel Intentions 2, From Dusk Till Dawn 2 AND 3, Urban Legend: Final Cut, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream 2 and 3, and Next Friday and Friday After Next.

"Friends Till the End" with Shannen Doherty, plays frequently on VH1 (or it did before VH1 started to blow chunks). It's a fairly positive portrayal of sorority women (Shannen is in a band and has other interests) and sororities in general, except the president of the sorority is a beeeyotch.

just as an aside, the ending isn't strange at all if you understand all the sub-plots & symbolism in the movie. The meaning of the ending is that we (African Americans in particular, but all people in general) need to wake up (out of one's daze) & stop letting petty things like skin tone, hair texture, greek affiliation, educational level, etc., divide us.

Sorority Girl (1957)
The story of the rich and beautiful girl who plots and schemes to find happiness, not caring who she hurts along the way.

The House on Sorority Row (1983)
Seven senior sorority sisters are soon sorry when they plan to play a pitiful prank on their house mother

Fraternity Vacation (1985)
A group of fraternity brothers leave behind their snowy Iowa digs for the sunny -- and scantily-clad -- sights of Palm Springs, California

Little Sister (1992 - Johnathan Silverman, Alyssa Milano)
As a prank, a male student dresses up as a girl to infiltrate a sorority house. His plan however becomes a bit sticky when he falls for his "big sister."

Confessions of a Sorority Girl (1993 - Alyssa Milano, Jamie Lunar)
An evil-minded college student is determined to destroy the lives of her fellow sorority sisters

Dying to Belong (1997 - Hilary Swank, Jenna von Oy)
A college freshman crusades for justice after her friend dies during a sorority hazing incident.

Just a few off the top of my head...

"The Tall Lie" (also titled "For Men Only") (1952)

From the black-and-white era, an anti-hazing film featuring Russell
Johnson (yes, from Gilligan's Island). A pledge is killed in an
"accident" after refusing to drink the blood of a murdered puppy
during an initiation ritual.

"Fraternity Row" (1977)

This one is really quite good in spite of it's anti-hazing theme. Set
in the early 60's and gets the overall atmosphere of greek life pretty
much dead-on. Also features a tragic hazing death.

"Reason to Believe" (1995)

This is one of my favorites. It's a "date-rape" film with the texture
of an Aftershool Special. Goes pretty far in depicting the sexual
free-for-all aspect of modern greek life. One of the highlights is
Holly Marie Combs from "Charmed" in a fairly explicit depiction of
oral sex (I sh*t you not), although this was cut out of the VHS
version so you have to catch it on cable. Also features Mark Metcalf
(Niedermier) and Kim Walker (Heathers) in supporting roles.

[B]There was a movie about 5 women who lived in their sorority house one summer, and when the house was being torn down 20 years later, the remains of a newborn baby was found. Stars included Loretta Swit and 4 others who I can't remember but are fairly big names. This will bother me all day until I remember its name!!
Yikes! So, what, did someone bury the baby there or something, hoping no one would find it?

I've never seen Cruel Intentions 2, but I head that it was kind of just a remake of the first one.

People have already seen previews of Legally Blonde 2? They were just filming on the CSUN campus last week... Manzanita Hall was renamed "V.E.R.S.A.C.E." and a lot of temporary shrubbery was put up Thursday and filming was on the Friday the week before Thanksgiving. I don't know if the main actors/actresses were there for that scene, but it took a whole day to film.

there was another lifetime movie that featured a fraternity (Kappa Pi) and how one of the brothers (Mark Paul Gossalear *Zach from Saved By The Bell*) raped a freshman girl (Candace Cameron *DJ from Full House*) at a fraternity party. Her brother is in the fraternity and he doesn't believe his brother would do that to his sister, etc. It was a pretty good film, we watched it in health class in high school.

The way I remember it, only 5 women & the housemother were living in the house that summer, all of whom became suspects, so they all got together & were trying to figure out who did it (before the police did). Loretta Swit's character was active in Pro-Life circles. Shelley Faberge (sp?) was another sister - but her character was gay, so she didn't have the baby, and Paula Prentiss was another, the "slutty sister", and she had an excuse. It turned out that while Paula Prentiss was cheating with one of the other women's fiance, the fiancee had a baby at 6 months, and she & the housemother dropped it down between two walls into the basement, already dead.

It ended with the big confession, and the five of them walked into the courthouse arm in arm to each say that she was the guilty one.

What about PCU? A 1994 ripoff of Animal House

gazta02 12-02-2002 12:32 AM

higher learning had a few fraternity things in it

lionlove 12-02-2002 12:57 AM

"The Graduate" isn't about fraternity life but there is one scene where Dustin Hoffman runs into the Theta Chi Delta house looking for the man who's going to marry his girlfriend. It's not a big scene but it's a pretty important scene.
