When I registered my phone number, I listed it in the directory under a false last name. When someone calls and says the wrong last name, I know they are telemarketers, which makes things easier.

I do try to maintain a polite tone, though if they don't get a clue I used the line, "No thank you, I'm not interested" followed by a swift *click*.

My parents did the same thing; their listed under Zubanelganubie.
