Well, in answer to your queation, that is exactly what I did!

I asked no one and did it anyway!

It was with the idea to affiliate with a National Fraternity. I started it and told the school here we are and what we want to do!

We did and are still there since 1965, begining of the Local BX!

Why did I do It? Well, I was not satisfied with the Orgs there even though there were TKE, PKA, SX, PSE (PSK), STG.

Do not ever look down your nose at someone as you may not really know what they had in mind!;)

reading this thread makes me want coffee and doughnuts. Stupid greekchat, making my caloric intake go up.

New blood is wonderful - but there are rules in place and you have to follow them.

It's not right for a group to be able to just say "Hey! We're a sorority!" and immediately be able to participate in Greek Week, get access to meeting rooms, get campus funding etc. If they are really serious about it, they should be willing to wait and work for it. Yes, 100 years ago you could create a sorority all on your own but things are different now.

We had Greek Week (Olympics) and access to meeting rooms, but no campus funding. Do most colleges fund their greek life? When I was in college, we had to pay out of pocket from dues or fundraise for everything.

Maybe the new group could affiliate with a smaller existing group and become a larger stronger sorority. On the other hand, a new sorority might spark a renewed interest in greeklife campus wide and attract people who never would have considered going greek.
