Though not all that well traveled, I have found it doesn't matter where I go, people are great! If YOU walk around with a smile, you usually get one in return!:D

Very few people I can't talk to and get a laugh from. Now about my NEIGHBORS..........

I've travelled around a little bit and the nicest people I have met are probably the French and the Northwesterners. When I studied in France, I found the people there to be incredibly thoughtful, kind and helpful. Same for people in Seattle, Montana and Idaho - very kind and generous.

The south was nice but with my Yankee accent I got a few stares and Civil War stories. The MidAtlantic (especially NJ and PA) are a mixed bag.

There's an old joke about how you can tell who's who in Manhattan:

- The natives are walking along, totally oblivious to anything around them.
- The tourists are gawking at all the skyscrapers.
- The folks from the suburbs are constantly looking around them, paranoid that someone's going to snatch their purse/wallet/jewelry at any moment.

The sad thing is - it's true!

People here in Oklahoma tend to be fairly nice... Once you get out into the small towns though watch your back:D They're real nice to your face but they are REALLY apprehensive to out of towners.

gotta luv the Midwest. people from ND and MN are the nicest. NE is ok, but I think I got lucky cause Creighton people are the most welcoming I've found.
Aspen is good too as long as you don't mind the occasional snob.

I think it def depends on your current location and who you feel is friendly vs. rude. Like I am from VA and find northeners (new yourk ecsp.) loud and outspoken.. which to me is very rude but to them they see nothing wrong with it. I also think that pace of life can be a bit stnad offish to me.. I am use to a slower pace of life and when I go to visit my boyfriend's family in Chicago I feel very overwhelmed by the people and the life there. There are rude and friendly people everywhere you go.. I think its just a matter of perspective.

True! That's the only thing we agreed on. No matter where you go, if you flash a smile you will more than likely get one in return.
