Delta Chi brought a speaker who read the thing about the frat boy. It was a seminar about to get people to rush and change stereotypes. :) It was not intended to be real, just a compilation of misconsceptions people have about greek life, and how to correct them.

I don't know about the sleeping around part, but for the most part, that sounds a LOT like one of my roomates. At least the not-so-nice things
 |
I actually find the Fraternity one kinda funny.
I adapted one for me and it's on my webpage...is that bad?? http://www.geocities.com/kitso361/wisdom.html Kitso KS 361 times i laughed and said, 'guilty' when i wrote mine |
yes yes, this is funny. I was just shocked at first when i read it cause i hadn't read that version before. Actually i got a version of it like 3 weeks ago.. just the sorority one (a little milder), and i sent it out to everyone on my list :D they appreciated it!!

I don't know...I'm not sure it's that funny to outsiders who have no other perception of Greek life. I can honestly say when I was in school, of the 11 houses on campus only 1 matched this. There was one other that kind of did, especially the black pants part, but that was it. So, no, from my experience, this isn't all true (Although, we did have a few SUVs parked in the driveway - but we were in Michigan! We had TONS of snow! We also had plenty of Escorts, big old Buicks and even a station wagon!).
I mean, yes, parts are funny, especially DRau's kinder version, but if this is floating around to people's inboxes, just another reason we have a negative image, I think. :( Sigh... |
Sure this discribes my soroity, not everything describs every girl but bits and pieces describe each girl. BUT it also describes ALOT of women that I know that are not in a sorority, a frat rat, if you will. They always wear letters (of frats) to work out in so everyone will know that they know a guy in a frat, they try to be best friends with one sorority so they always have an in when outsiders can not come. They try harder than anyone that I know to be part of the greek system, but when you ask them if they want to rush or pledge, they say no because they do not pay for their friends... this is at the door of some frat party while they are going through thier wallet to get out $10 to hang out at the party.

I don't know...I see this as more of an American stereoype...I don't really see this among Canadian greeks...but I could be wrong. I can tell you that no one in my chapter has a Kate Spade bag, or a Nicole Miller dress...all though I;m sure we would all love to have them...we're not walking around with diamond studs, most of us are on OSAP, very few of us have cars, and they're not SUV's...no of us are dating fraternity boys...because well, we hate DU's and DU's hate us. I just don't see this stereotype

Personally, I found it funny. There are alot of girls in my sorority that are like that (some of the stereotypes even applied to me). The frat one was funny too. I know some guys like that. I know that not everybody is like that and it paints a bad picture for the Greek system, but it is really funny. You've gotta laugh at stuff like that.
