"Chrissy", I am certainly a professor and I normally don't pick apart students. But like I said--I think you're a poser because of the discrepancies in your story that a couple of the older guys have pointed out and the fact that you aren't using the language that a college-bound student would. It's a real miracle that you were able to be initiated 2 days after you asked us about rush!

You state that you never said that the active's kidnapping you was fun, however that quote was taken from your post. Now, if this is all a big misunderstanding (probably stemming from your misuse of grammer) then I apologize for the attack you feel you are under, and I appreciate the time you have taken to find out what really goes on in GLO's insteading of believing what rumors are floating around and on repuations based on mindless movies. However, the claims you make seem more outrageous then even the movies claim. Did you truly believe that you would have to sleep with 20-200 men in order to join a sorority. And if you did....why would you continue to be interested in an organization that uphelp such a disgusting tradition. And why would you want to attempt death by drinking just to be in an organization. My organization PROUDLY stands by their non-hazing policy and that INCLUDES anything that could/would/should make a new member uncomfortable in any sense of the word. If you feel that you would not be uncomfortable forced to face death by alcohol, or made to sleep with 20-200 men before being made a sister (so in a semester) then I wouldn't want you in my organization, because then you obviously don't hold enough self-respect for yourself to uphold my organizations' values. Please keep in mind that the last paragraph in my post the term "you" is not an attack on you, chrissy. Also, please excuse any of my grammatical errors or spelling mistakes....just finished a 16 page paper for a final..starting to get tunnel vision. |

I have a lot of relatives in Mississippi, and one first cousin was accepted early at Miss. State, I believe-VERY EARLY. In fact, there was a special program, where she was able to live at the campus, from what I was told. Now, I understand that a second cousin has tested so high that she is in an early college program. So, from experience in my family, at least in this state, they do have early admissions, or a joint program through high schools to finish high school and take college credit when they are very young, but testing off of the charts.

I was able to take College Courses while I was in HS. We did not have AP courses available in our school.

A lot of kids in Colorado go to college early, but I don't really understand why they want to -- unless they're really disgusted with high school. Why miss out on the fun and social life of your Senior year? (Well, at least I had a pretty good time)
Our son is a High School Junior and could very easily go to college next year (he's on a potential National Merit track), but wants to stay with his friends, etc. He's a class officer and in all kinds of activities. I agree with him. He is taking almost all AP and Honors courses, so he may enter college as a sophomore, but we'll figure that out when the time comes. Why hurry? |
A girl who I grew up with went to college when we were all in 9th grade. She finished up her high school credits in her first sememster (she tested out of a lot of stuff--why she was able to do so) and then went on to take college courses. She was finished with college when we finished high school.
It's rare, but it happens. |
Going to college while in your Jr & Sr year in high school is called Post-Secondary Option. You get college & HS credit, while only taking college classes. I think the state pays for it, as long as you pass. That's here in Ohio
