Hmmm… I don’t know lol. I’ll admit, I am a hard person to shop for. I’m usually surprised and happy at the same time on Christmas Day with my gifts. I generally receive gifts I would have never bought for myself, but still gifts I like and can use.

PKT4LIFE 12-21-2023 08:55 PM

I am heading to Vegas for Christmas. I am hoping to hit a fairly decent size slot jackpot.

AGDee 12-21-2023 09:17 PM

I already got my gifts. I asked for flannel sheets. I love my Egyptian cotton high thread count sheets but they are COLD. I got the flannel sheets. I also got some under eye mask things that I asked for and some body wash I wanted. And then some candles. And my son and his fiance got me a gift card for candlelight concerts so I can go to one of my choice! I might do Taylor Swift but I think I've seen them for Queeven also. My son is a great gift giver. He has been since he was really little.

When my son was 6, I had just bought my house that summer and moved out of my ex-husband's house. The school had a Santa shop where kids could buy their parents presents. He got me this cute pink screwdriver set called "Mom's Tool Kit" and told me he got it for me because I had a house now, I needed tools too. It was so adorable. Now he's 27 and buying me gift cards for concert tickets. So cool :)

I did most of my shopping, gonna hope my family does well with me (and they usually do.)

Something I've seen around the internet is kids asking for insane things like the newest iPhones or expensive bracelets. As if I didn't ask for a full backyard playground at that age, unknown to the cost lol.

Phrozen Sands 12-21-2023 11:19 PM

Do you guys regift?

honeychile 12-21-2023 11:25 PM

I don't regift, but our church has a regifting event where everyone can exchange something they're not wild about, and the appropriate things go to a charity.

My mama had her "giftie closet" - things that she could give to some of the impromptu guests we had at Christmas. She couldn't bear to think of anyone being by themselves at Christmas.

I posted some sketches and a clay model on here I did many years ago. It was my student work. I don’t have any current pictures of my work I’ve done, other than one of my dioramas I built from scratch. It’s on my phone and I don’t know how to post pics from it.

I stopped asking for that a long time ago. It’ll never happen.

I think a lady re-gifted a fruitcake to me at work a few days ago. I’m thinking someone re-gifted it to her. Who knows how many times it’s been re-gifted. I just threw it in the trunk, got home, and in the trash it went.

I had hoped to go to New Orleans, but Covid finally caught me . . .mild case, but I'm still housebound. Had to cancel all my reservations.

I didn’t think I wanted anything…until now.

I would like to get a camera to watch the frogs in my pond in the spring! They’re not active now, so no need…but in a few months it will literally be hopping.

Everyone at work keeps giving me random things this year, even though I just started this job! While I appreciate the idea, there’s just a ton of stuff I don’t use. I think I’m just going to bundle them up and leave them for my favorite overworked store manager.

My mom is like that too. I remember she’d always invite people from our church over to the house so they wouldn’t have to eat Christmas dinner alone.

Lmao! Are fruitcakes still a Christmas thing? I never understood why people give fruitcakes as gifts. Those things are mad nasty. I know the majority of people don’t like fruitcake. I know it because there are too many jokes about getting them for the holidays. I’d have left it at work and let it get molded up Lol.

Only if it's explicitly expressed that we are having a white elephant gift exchange. My boss gave me a hat and scarf set last week and it didn't match any winter coats I own. I took them to a white elephant exchange. The person who got it seemed to like it. They were nice, they just didn't match my stuff.

I'm sorry. It's wrecked my last 3 Christmases and 4 years ago my dad passed on 12/23. I'm about to give up on Christmas to be honest. My son and his fiance arrived here 12/12. My daughter flew in on 12/13, had a peanut exposure and spent the evening in ER, getting home at 1 am. We had fun at a Red Wings game on 12/14. The morning of 12/15, my son's fiance tested positive for COVID. So we masked up, opened gifts and they left for home 3 days early. I hosted my aunt and uncle on the 17th. My cousins were supposed to come too but none of them ended up being able to make it. So I have a ton of food that I've been eating all week. COVID sucks. I'm not sure I want to bother with Christmas next year. So much prep and COVID messes it up every year. :( I'm glad your symptoms are mild. I hope it stays that way.

carnation 12-22-2023 05:36 PM

That's odd. Covid has been such a non-factor around here. Hardly anyone has ever masked.

A friend was hospitalized in ICU with it a couple weeks ago. It's running rampant here. My son and his fiance had in late October/Early November too.

I’ve always liked the gifts I’ve gotten, so I’ve never had to do that.
