I thought this was an excellent movie. It is nice to see black folks making good movies that are not about drugs, gangs and babies mamas!

I give BROWN SUGAR two thumbs up. :D I loved this movie! Using hip hop as a metaphor was a good way to show the relationship between the characters. I was LMAO during the restaurant scene and any scene that featured Rin and Tin. I thought the ending of the film was very cute. :)

just saw it
I saw it last night and it was hilarious! Yes, the infamous restaurant scene was excellent! I didn't expect this movie to be so funny! I definitely want to buy this when it comes out on dvd.
Oh and can I just say that Boris was looking MMM MMM MMMM MMMM MMMM GOOD!! :D :D :D |
Thanks for the word
I need to make time to see this. It does sound refreshing. I'd looove, however, to see a similar movie made for us old folks.

******EDITED: All they have to do is make BeBe's By Golly Wow by Soror Yolanda Joe into a movie and that is more to the "old folks' liking". |
I enjoyed the movie as well. It didn't start out any way like I thought that it would. The restaurant scene was a straight up hoot!! Now y'all know I don't like boris Kodjoe with that bald head, but DAYUM....he was looking to damn good with it in the movie.
Ok, again , the restaurant scene was something else. The hip hop dalmations, need I say anymore. The band movie I remember reading about it in some magazine maybe last year or the year before, I am glad to see that it is finally making it to the big screen. I'm going to see one and that Antwon Fisher movie with my man Denzel (even though I wasn't feeling the mustache) but anything with Denzel, and he is directing, yes I have to support. :D |
I saw this movie last night and absolutley loved it. I went in expecting a Love and Basketball duplicate but with a hip hop twist...boy was I wrong, it was better. The chemistry between all the character was great. I thought Mos Def's shyness towards Queen Latifah's character was so cute. I give Brown Sugar two big thumbs up. I will see it again.

"I used to love him, still do, and always will..." Outside of that comparison...I don't think I was feeling the analogies btwn hip hop and love...I like what they were trying to do but I don't think it quite came across that way, at least not to me... |
:D :D :D
I ENJOYED THE MOVIEEEEEE!!!!! For those of us who are Soul Food Fans....wasn't it refreshing to see Boris is still as FIIIINNNNNEEEEE as he wants to be. My Soror was rubbing my arm to calm me down when that man came out...then I started repeating "I Love My Man...." Hip-Hop....boy that took me back. I remembered how I felt the first time I heard Kurtis Blow and These are the breaks...Doug E Fresh and the Get Fresh Crew, Slick Rick the Ruler and all the others. Okay so what goes on with D-a-l-m---you know how to spell it! ;) I was cracking up! I especially enjoyed: the beginning, the middle and the end! I would like to see it again and this is a MUST HAVE on DVD! |

But I've seen MUCH worse so I'm not complaining...like I said I'll buy it when it comes out. ;) |
What I liked, appreciated, respected was that there was NO NUDITY in this movie. :D
But that still don't mean ol girl shoulda bought her 7 year old to the movie. Come alone like I did and sit near me but NOT next to me. |
