Event 3
The third and final event was making lip scrubs. We were given containers and a mix of honey and brown sugar. I ended up eating most of mine, while others thought it was too sweet or joined me. I spoke to one girl about retail, which we worked in, and how she worked at one of my favorite stores. We also spoke about the new puppy I had adopted and how I missed him since coming to college. The event then ended and I thanked them and said good bye. I ended up catching a nasty cold the day after and had to miss class later that week. Being sick stunk, and recruitment was the last thing I was thinking about. |
How many of the school's sororities are participating in informal recruitment? I am assuming that Event 2 was with the same sorority as Event 1? You didn't specify if it was Mapo Tofu again....

So with that, I tried not to get my hopes up too high until I got a phone call about a week later when I was beginning to feel better with the help of Dayquil and drinking a ton of lemonade.
“Hi this is _____ from Mapo Tofu. We would like to extend you a bid, will you accept?” I could not believe it. I was in the dining hall trying not to seem super excited and I said yes. She congratulated me and told me the bid day would be the next. So with a sleepless night due to my excitement, I went to bid day, and the sisters greeted me. They handed me my bid to Mapo Tofu, also known as DELTA DELTA DELTA!! Through my long journey to find my home in greek life, it had many turns but everyone was right about trusting the process and being open minded. I also learned (and I feel like some PNMs need to hear this.) not everyone can thrive in formal recruitment. Informal Recruitment and COB can be just as rewarding, and allow for a much more intimate, less stressful experience. I also learned that listening to tent talk and following friends/roommates to a house is not always the best idea. Finding your home should be about YOU, and even if whatever house you pick may not be the most popular according to the people on a certain website or the one your best friends ends up at, it’s all on you. |
Congratulations! So glad that you had a happy ending to your story!

Okay, so this was not the ending I was expecting. That's what I get for trying to play GC detective. Congrats on your bid to Tri-Delt!
|
Congratulations!

Congratulations! I also joined Tri Delta through winter/informal recruitment and it was a much better fit for my personality than a big formal recruitment.
I hope you have a wonderful collegiate experience! |
Thank you everyone for the kind comments!

That's awesome!

Congratulations! I am glad that you found your home!
