EM -

Any tattoo artist worth his ink is a great freehand artist. Take a picture of the C&C, and explain how you would like the swords to look. Everything is done on paper before it is done on skin.

If the artist can't draw, don't let them come near you with a needle, no matter how clean the shop looks.

i wanted to get a tat on my thigh of the c & c with my # in my crescent n my chapter in my cross with secret stuff in uv ink all the way around the tattoo for fun ya know?

I would be careful about having anything secret added to a Tattoo, unless teh artist is a brother. It isn't hard to put together "Fraternity tattoo + UV ink = secret" y'know?

??? Is this a TKN thing?

Shadowskream459 07-24-2008 02:54 PM

The tattoo I plan on getting as soon as my "broke-college-student" butt can pay for it is the C&C with the crescent wrapping around the cross (in front of the right arm, behind the bottom), crescent in gold, cross in purple, with a green shield in the middle of it, with my Zeta number in gold, Delta Pi in the crescent in black or purple, and the crossed swords behind it.

I'm gonna put it on my right shoulder-blade and posibly put Kalepa Ta Kala underneath it.

I'm also getting our letters on my ankle soon. I've almost got THAT money saved up. :P

That's a big no-no.

One of the first rules taught to me was: NO DOUBLE LETTERING. Period. Under any situation.

That includes tattoos.

Chase, you might want to make that Chalepa ta Kala (X, not K). :)

Ha, I feel completely retarded now. Thanks.

And on the Double-lettering thing, I've never heard that. Thanks for the heads up. :D

ZAX ya'll.

Double lettering is the act of wearing more than one symbol or article of clothing showing our fraternities letters or symbols that are visible to the general at the same time.

One example would be wearing a LXA hat with a LXA t-shirt.

2 or 3 of my brothers have the letters on the ankle...

Is there a reason for no double-lettering? I mean besides looking a like a JIB..

Albert109 07-24-2008 08:30 PM

JIB?

I have also hearad about the no double lettering rule. GZ was right, it was one of the first things i was told as well. Although I thought with a tatoo, that if it was not normally visible, it was acceptable. That was also a very good example of how it was explained to me.

I do however think there are some exceptions, or at least one situation that it would be permissable to double letter, and that would be a major fraternity event like GAs, Conclaves, etc. I dont think too many people would point out a Brother who was wearing, his PG&G cumberbund, with his C&C tie, and his LXA monogram tie tac, with those nifty little C&C shirt studs, and wiith his badge on. Somehow i dont think anyone would care for a situation like that, but in normal day to day life, i usually stick to the rule.

GammaZeta 07-24-2008 10:04 PM

I guess double lettering would be the equivalent of wearing face paint, weird foam hat, big foam #1 finger, and jersey of your favorite football team around campus on a normal day.

Promoting LXA is good, but becoming a walking billboard/clothes shop of LXA looks a little out of place.

You also don't want to look like a walking, one man Mardi Gras parade.

Shadowskream459 07-25-2008 12:13 PM

See I've heard of double lettering, but I've never heard of it being a big deal with tattoos. Almost every fraternity member on my campus has two or three fraternity tattoos if they have tattoos at all. Guess it's one of those things that differs from big campuses to small. We aren't a very traditional greek system. Hell our Zeta is approx. 45 members and we're the largest GLO on campus. :P
