Out of state is not important at Vanderbilt. The chapter I advised has women from the south, east coast, midwest, west coast.

I always felt like the more the variety makes a chapter better!:)

Just saying, a he or she organization is not that far different!:D

I’m inclined to agree. I can’t think of anything more boring than spending your college years with the same people you saw every single day in high school.

It might also get pretty boring seeing/repeatedly interacting with the same women at eventual "Number Umpteen Reunion" events for the sorority, the high school and the university.

Any school in Arizona.

The smaller liberal arts colleges that pull a diverse population across states. The schools and chapters might be small, but the presence of greek life on those campuses can be intense -- especially if a school is "in the middle of nowhere." But those schools aren't so worried about high school connections, it's likely those connections don't exist enough to make a dent in recruitment.

The last thing in the world I wanted when I went away to school was to be around ANY of the girls with whom I attended HS. As the bottom of the totem pole in HS, I deliberately when AWAY to school so that I could make a complete fresh start. As I mentioned in other posts over the years, I had no intentions of pledging because I thought of sorority girls as those in the "in group" from HS continuing their snotty and bullying ways in college. As I have been a member of KD longer than a large number of members on this board have lived on this Earth, you can see that I found a group very different than the HS girls.

I got lucky in that regard. Graduating class of 60 kids from a Private school in the Far East and we went to college all over the planet. I *think* that the most kids to end up in one school was 3 at U of California.
