Wow. I'm being hazed and not only did I not know, I'm enjoying it! I realize that our policies are different from NPC groups. I'm pretty glad for that for the moment. I like being "required" to wear my pin from 8-5 M-F. (I wear mine more so that people ask questions about my sorority.) I like that I can't wear our letters until initiation. This is just part of the fun that comes with being a pledge. Yes, we're still called pledges. :) It also makes being able to wear the letters later more special. We also have to make a pledge book carry it from 8-5 M-F, (thank God!! If I didn't have to carry it, I might never study for those irritating quizzes I get every Tuesday... ;) ) do interviews, get signatures, go on scavenger hunts, and we definitel get treated different by the actives when you compare how they treat each other - we're fussed over, given gifts, helped with everything, waited on... I'm loving it. I don't understand why you would join something if you're not going to take part in everything and be proud to wear a pin, for instance. About the no letters thing - I'm earning that right as a pledge. Our penalty for wearing letters before initiation is an extra hour of service.
Tom, all I have to say to you is: Amen on everything you said!! |
mtsugirl, thanx for the end of your post!:)
If you each are not proud enuff to wear your Colors, Letters, Association Pins, and Member Badges then just what in the hell were you joining a CLUB!?:o NO, you were and are joining a Group Of People Whom YOU want to be a part of for the rest of your life! TRUE? If not get out! It is called "GTFO". How do you as a member promote YOUR Org?:(  You are not a You anymore, You are a we! Do not ever forget that! Or have you already done that? This not to the New Members, but the old ones! Are each of you in the catagory of Hands or Ass:confused: Only You can make that decision! Oui? |

I'm a new member and I have to wear my pledge pin to meetings and i can't wear my letters either. i don't think it's hazing, i think it's a matter of respect. i'm still learning about my sorority and i think i have to earn the honor of wearing my letters. in regards to having to wear the pins, the actives have to wear their pins to meetings to. it's a matter of tradition, not hazing. i think the restrictions are getting crazy! we can't even call ourselves pledges anymore. i don't think i've been a part of hazing at all. i'm having a great time and feel so proud when i wear my pin and can't wait to wear my letters!!
