I’ll be going through recruitment this fall at UT Austin! I’m super excited!

My daughter will be rushing in August at University of South Carolina. We were totally clueless on how all of this works since she will be a first generation college student. Just found this site this week and it’s helped a lot. We were very unknowlgeable about how the recommendations worked. We’ve obtained recommendations for 3 chapters, but are having a hard time locating alumni from others since we are getting a late start :-(
But, we are very excited about the experience she will be having in her next chapter of life!

So glad that you and your daughter have found this site. IMO this site provides excellent suggestions for anyone unfamiliar with the recruitment process. Please read any of the recommendations/suggestions for surviving recruitment in the warm southeast climate along with tips for conversations and the all important what to do regarding recommendations.

Good luck to your daughter and I hope that she enjoys the process.

Hi baalt33! I am rushing this August at USC too! I am native to SC and feel like I have a good amount of knowledge on rush at USC and what girls our age are wearing/doing! Please message me if you have any questions!! I'm sure your daughter is just as excited as I am!

Jill, you are Rockstar! How many years have you been at this, girlie? I am in awe of your dedication.

thanks. many years. Finally catching up. Between traveling and starting a new job things have been nuts. The new job has a shorter commute :D

My daughter is about to go through recruitment at UGA. 19 sororities! Lord help us!

I was asked to write one for a young lady going through at USC (S. Carolina) next month. I told her my schedule so we could meet and never heard from her. I hope she got her recs for all the sororities lined up, but she will not get a Kappa one from me. My summer got too busy/filled up too quickly--I am not inclined to chase down a PNM to get her info. A "thanks but no thanks" reply to my email would have been the polite thing to do. Guess I will have to live vicariously this time through all of your PNMs' recruitment results!

That was very nice of you to offer to help though :)

Thanks, baalt33. I love the excitement of recruitment. I hope your daughter thoroughly enjoys her recruitment experience and finds her "home away from home." Please keep us posted.

I'm wondering if numbers are down all over this year. I only had one reccomendation to write this year -- to TCU -- versus the usual dozen or so I write each year.

Recruitment registration at Alabama just closed and according to information I received from our chapter there, the total number of PNMs is 2244 this year. That seems really low for Alabama. With its growing popularity with Texas students, I'm usually writing multiple recommendations to Alabama. This year I didn't receive a single request.

I noticed that about Alabama as well - down approx. 400 from last year.
U of Arkansas is up, but only by about 8. Their Panhellenic FB page lists 1717 registered.

Any thoughts about why it's down? I'm really surprised at Alabama, I think they might have the highest number of PNM's of any SEC school.

I've written 5 Bama recs this year, lots of UA kids from our part of Texas!

kudgalum 07-18-2018 08:39 PM

My daughter is going through rush at Nebraska (at Lincoln). I've written recs for Mizzou & Ole Miss
