I'm glad!

Do you bleed blue? (Blues slogan)

I know Colorado wanted another defenseman, but I don't really think they had the upper hand in that trade. I think Calgary benefitted.

well at this point no one can say who got the better of the trade...however here's a few points that can provide explanation for Pierre Lacroix's ability to steal players time and again....

"There's no clear-cut winner or loser on this trade at this point, but here's the rub. When teams like the Calgary Flames and Colorado Avalanche make a trade, one is dealing from a position of weakness and one from a position of strength. No need to explain which one is which here...

The Avalanche, on the other hand, have much more margin for error. Technically, Drury's place in the Avs' top six forwards will be taken by Peter Forsberg, who missed all of last season. But kids such as Radim Vrbata, Vaclav Nederost, Riku Hahl and Brian Willsie are all threatening to step up. Of course, there's always McAmmond, if he can stay healthy.

On the Colorado upside, and make that a huge upside, the Avs get an error-prone but burgeoning blue-line talent with size, strength, skill and speed to apprentice alongside Rob Blake and Adam Foote. What's not to like about that?

The rich, it seems, get richer. The poor, or in this case the Flames, must hope for the best. "

- Quote taken from TSN analyst Bob Mackenzie

Drury has been great at times for the avalanche, but we have to consider that playing around greatness may have helped.

Just got back from the Kings v. Coyotes preseason game... 2 nice brawls.. a good fight... good times.

Thrillhouse 10-04-2002 11:31 AM

I still don't think Calgary will make the playoffs.

Nick, what did you think of the Hurme trade? Hurme won't get much playing time in Florida either but the emergence of Prusek made Hurme expendable imho.

I'm going to my game of the season on sunday, Nucks vs. Sharks (even though technically it's the Canucks last game of the pre-season). The cool thing about this game is that the Queen is going to there and she's dropping the puck.

Nice siobhan...how much are the tickets for that game? Maybe it's because i haven't been to a game in the last two years, but it seems like senator tickets have really gone up a lot. I remember second level seats were around $65...now, third level seats are $80...the premier games (toronto, detroit) cost an additional 20%, while the junk teams are reduced 20%.

DeltaSigStan 10-05-2002 11:27 AM

Still doesnt matter, AVALANCHE RULE!!!!!!!!

BTW, remember when the Coyotes were still the Jets, and they would play the Sharks?

The Jets vs. The Sharks........kinda funny if you think about it.

It's super exepnsive to go to a canucks game, you pay anywhere from $25 - $130 a ticket. I think I'm paying $40 for tomorrow's game. Then you add food and drinks on top of that. It costs $7 for a half a pint of Canadian and then there's parking... Like my marketing teacher said, if you want to go to Canucks game you have to take out a 2nd mortgage :P.

Well the Canucks season opener last night was AMAZING!!

For the 1st time ever as they enter into 33rd year, the Canucks opened the season with a shutout. The passing between the West Coast Express (Bertuzzi, Naslund and Morrison) was just beautiful hockey. If it wasn't for Turyk, Calagary would have been smoked by Vanc.

I just hope that they don't fall back into their old pattern. I believe that if they continuing playing the way they have since January, that Old Lord Stanley could finally be ours. I have my fingers crossed :).

I am so disappointed that I missed the Red Wings season opener! :( I fell asleep and missed my favorite player, Kirk Maltby, score the first two goals.

Oh well...Go Wings :)

Try getting a ticket to a Leafs game! Next to impossible unless you're som corporate big shot.

Anyway, my brother and his buddies are watching the Leafs right now...the are so loud, I can hear them all the way down in the basement and they're on the second floor. Just wanted to say Go Leafs Go!!!

After last nights Canucks game, I have now figured out my superstition for the 2002-03 season. I am not allowed to go to the bathroom during the game, and neither is my friend. my friend got up to go to the ladies room and the Sharks scored goal #1. I was in the bathroom when the scored goal #2. I really had to go again right towards the end of the game when things were 3-3. Neither of our boyfriends would let me go. SO I better watch my beer intake this hockey season :p.

Yay! The Red Wings home opener is tonight. Can't wait to watch the banner being raised! :)
