D Phi E did a fantastic job and have 14 NMs!! Way to go Eta Chapter :)

KappaStargirl,
I can answer that one. We are still in the middle of our rush week, we have 2-3 days left. We are doing well so far and should have a very strong class if everything goes well. It’s still early to tell on who will sign bids.
On a side note my friend went through sorority rush at Pitt this year and “fell through the cracks.” She was dirty rushed by a house that didn’t bid her, needless to say she was very upset. She has a snap bid to a house she visited at 8 rounds and is thinking about it, but is worried she doesn’t know enough girls. Any advice I can give her?

Congrats to all the sororities that made quota.

honeychile 09-25-2002 11:34 AM

The last I heard, ceiling (total) was 60. kkdani, how many of the houses are still under ceiling, do you know?

Also, will there be a formal rush next term?

kddani 09-25-2002 12:39 PM

Okay, where to start here.
Moxiegrrl- i think only the 6 that made quota are at ceiling (a few could be below, i don't know what their numbers were, but if not at total then pretty friggin' close!). So yes, there are 5 houses that will definately be COBing. And for the first time that anyone of know of (need to do some research) this is the first time we haven't had to COB!

Shadokat- wow, did they really? I didn't know that. I thought that they got 6 or 7. Did they snap bid? Just wondering. It's so hard hearing everything and not being there, so i don't always have the right information. We weren't near them outside last night so I didn't see. Plus it's so crazy you can barely tell who's who anyway!

Honeychile- yep, ceiling is 60. Like i said earlier, probably 5 are under ceiling. This was a really good rush for Pitt.
There should be recruitment in the spring, there always is. It's not formal, it's kind of informal but kind of structured. It might bea good thing for the houses that aren't at ceiling. Those who are at ceiling don't participate in spring rush. Last year all but one house had to spring rush. But if there's 6 houses at ceiling, that could really boost up some of the other houses!

As for the pref thing, that's only what our CDC told us? I thought it was strange, i wouldn't want there to be no rho chi's present during the pref ceremonies cause that could lead to some MAJOR dirty rushing.

And in other Pitt greek news, the Greek advisor resigned yesterday, so she'll be gone in two weeks. Who knows how long it will take them to find a real replacement. Sounds like a nightmare in the making!

SigEp42 09-25-2002 02:17 PM

Wait Sharon resigned? Where have I been?

I'm sure we will have a great replacement in no time.

kddani 09-25-2002 02:32 PM

She resigned yesterday, so don't feel bad about not knowing about it!

SigEp42 09-25-2002 02:43 PM

She was/is a great advisor, and will be greatly missed. I am interested to know why she resigned so suddenly, she was just at our house talking about the new social policy and said she would be around for a while. This is a problem because they just last year got rid of her boss and grad assistant, so there is no one to fill the void. The next person in the chain is the dean.

Dani - do you know if Tara is still coming into town this weekend? I haven’t heard from her. And she said she may.

kddani 09-25-2002 02:49 PM

From what i was told it was for both personal and professional reasons.

I'm going to try to stop up and see her this week or next to say goodbye. She's awesome, and I worked with her quite a lot (I taught Freshman studies with her). I'm guessing that maybe the personal part is spending more time with her baby.

And as for professionally, I wouldn't want to be working in that office since Joe Cavalla was fired. So many students are still so pissed about that.

I haven't talked to Tara much lately, I talked to her briefly on IM last night about our new girls, so i'm not sure. If you find out that she is, let me know. If i see her online i'll try to find out.

shadokat 09-25-2002 03:37 PM

kddani--

I got an email from one of their chapter advisors saying they got 14 PNMs. I would hope it's true :D!

kddani 09-25-2002 03:47 PM

where oh where is fire1977???

she'll be able to tell us for sure shadokat!

KillarneyRose 09-25-2002 04:38 PM

Congratulations to all of the Pitt sororities for such a successful rush! Back in the stone ages when I was there, there were only three houses that ever made quota so as far as I'm concerned maybe the tide is turning!

Waaaa, waaaaaaa, why do I have to live so far from home???? I want to be the Greek Advisor at Pitt! Maybe I'd be a tad biased, but not too, too much! :D

SigEp42, I PM'd you

fire1977 09-25-2002 10:16 PM

I did bid matching for my chapter, so I don't want to say too much because I promised dphies00 she could post the results.

Anyway we got most of our girls through formal bid matching. I believe quota was set after 4 rounds. I think it's usually been done by 8 so this was actually better, and I hate to say it but with the release figures they guessed on, things worked out much better. Of the houses that didn't make quota they averaged between 8-10 I think with only one getting less.

I am VERY upset with the fact that Sharon was leaving. I was there before Sharon became the GA and I did NOT really enjoy the other girl.

I think the ones that made quota are at ceiling. There is one in particular that is like 18 above. Anyway sorry to have kept you waiting!!!!

Rho Chi's weren't in the parties, it was just JBoard and panhellenic officers. That was one of the new rules this year.

Chapters that I believe/know are under ceiling which is 60
Dphie
TPA
AEPhi
ADPi
SDT

SigEp42....
If it isn't too late have her contact the sorority and tell them that she is interested in COB (as long as they haven't gone to ceiling). You're chapter president should have a list of the presidents for the sororities, see if you can get it and give her the number to contact...that way she isn't obligated to join but can get to know the girls a little better. If it's any of the above sororities they should be COBing so she didn't miss out.

There will be a sort of formal recruitment in spring with the 5 houses participating that didn't make ceiling.

Did I miss anything?:p

kddani 09-25-2002 10:26 PM

congrats to you guys, must've had some awesome rush preparations.

Good to hear from an "insider"- it's so weird to not be a direct part of it!

fire1977 09-25-2002 10:37 PM

The VPR for the chapter has been planning it since the summer it was awesome!!!!! They were just amazing!!!!

I have to say that I am incredibly beat though!!!

SigEp42 09-25-2002 10:37 PM

My friend was very upset about the whole bid day situation but is gettin over it, and after a long day of debating she decided to take her snap bid. She is now a nu member of AEPhi. She is very happy as are the Phi's, she is a great addition to thier house.
