At my school AZD's are referred to as either AZD's (like zee) or Alpha "sigh" Delta.

Also I thought that the pronounciation for Phi as in Apha Phi or Alpha Phi Omega depends on if its a sorority (fee) or fraternity (fi)

are you sure about the alpha "zee" delta? i'm almost positive it's called alpha "zigh" delta. but when you say the nickname, it's pronounced a"zee"d.

I'm not 100% sure so please correct me if i'm wrong http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

And yes, you're right, Phi Mu and D Phi E are both pronounced "Fie" http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Hi everybody,

I have been to Greece and the pronounciation of the letters is mostly different from America.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to write it down phonetically but I am not sure if it really matters. Hey, you guys are in America and I don't see anything wrong pronouncing it in English.
One thing, however, that sounds surprising to me is that you say that "X" is pronounced "Zee". From street signs in Greece I learned that "X" stands for Chi and "Z"= zeta for Zee. There is in addition the Xzee (like in taxi) which I am unable to type here on my keyboard - are you all referring to that letter??
