I'm sorry if this offends, but "cool" lessons?? You are kidding me...

I agree with carnation in that the older you get (and I'm not old yet http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif), the more you realize that legacies are important to your organization. I think I'd be devastated if I had a daughter go through recruitment and not get a bid from my own group. Especially the way we all toot our own group's horns http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Nah, they can work. I turned some dweebs around myself. Some people might be cool, just uh...socially inept. So you gotta teach them how to chill.

I have said it once, and I will say it again...

The fraternity makes the man, not the other way around.

A certain fraternity on my campus recolonized two years ago. They bid every guy who rushed, and it was from their rush chair that I first heard the statement above. They are now a great chapter, in every sense. The sororities love them, they are one of the largest on campus, their grades are consistantly in the top 3, they were IFC's Chapter of the Year....I could go on, but you get the idea.

The point is, ideals that are hundreds of years old will certainly be stronger than one guy's personality.
