Well, I'm not Greek yet....but I've been dating my Greek for a year in September :) At least w/Dustin, I know I have his support and understanding when I pledge this fall and he won't feel 'forgotten about'! LOL! :p

I've been in my sorority for 2 years, but I've only dated one Greek in that time. He was a Kappa Sigma alum. I used to be pretty anti dating greeks because even though I was in a sorority I thought frat boys were stupid. Then I met Gregg and realized that I've been missing out on dating men that I have a lot in-common with, and that most fraternity brothers aren't stupid. It was amazing to be able to talk about all the aspects of greek life without having the guy zone out on me. The Kappa Sig and I have broken up since then, but we reman close friends.

Yes, I am dating a Phi Kapp..he pledged the semster after me b/c he is younger...We actually clash with our schedules,b/c we are both so busy, but I respect what he has to do and he does the same.

I'm pinned to a Theta Chi! :D We've been together for 4 1/2 years.

Through out college I dated both Greek and non-Greek. Found that it was eazier to date greeks because they really did not question why I was going to a certian funtion and what went on during initation week. I did marry a Phi Sigma Kappa.

That's so great to hear everyone! My Lambda Chi & I will be celebrating our 2nd "official" year together very soon. :)

Edited to include: For those of you dating greeks, I know both schedules must be very jam-packed... do you find it hard to just get away from it all and spend time together with non-greek functions?

I only dated Fraternity guys, because my social circle in college was very greek-centered. Then I met and later married my GDI :) He did his undergrad on a campus where apparently sorority girls never dated non-fraternity guys, so he was hesitant to initially ask me out. Luckily, a bunch of my friends--a few sorority sisters and close friends in a couple other sororities--convinced him to ask. He did, and we've been together for almost 16 years now (14+ years married.)

He knew before he ever asked me out that I took my commitment to AOII and the greek system very seriously--I was Panhellenic Recruitment chair when we first met! He's supported my continued involvement ever since, even though to this day he doesn't regret not going greek at his school. It's a shame he never went greek, because I think he would be an amazing fraternity brother!

Greeks on campus have an over all higher GPA why because it is requiered to stqaty active and be part of the membership!

Greeks stupid, not! Who runs most of the 500 largest Companies in the Fortune 500! Greeks!

Greeks do more on campus than anyone! Look around, would there be a Homecoming?

Would the money given to charities be so high?

Hell If my Chapter was not there, why would I want to go for 2 hour drives each way just to see a bunch of high school bands at homecoming.

I go about 8 times a year for different functions, Homecoming, Founders Day Weekend, Leadership training, and House Corp weekends! If it was and is for the BrotherHood Screw the Gorillas!

It is because of my Brothers that I go back and am involved in school functions! Not the other way around. What about you! How many GDIs do you want to go back and find from your class? Doyou even know any of them?

Hope that answers some questions!

Odd, I dated a Greek once too and he wanted to take me to Athens where he still lives but I broke up with him first.
 Glad that's over.

On another note, I have never dated a Fraternity boy (man, whatever). Besides the ones in my brother Fraternity, the ones that I know all creep me out.

Nothing good. Either, they all go to Ryan's and go back to campus trashed by 4am. Every Thursday, every week, every year.
Or, they are so-in-love with their girlfriend who they are going to marry and say the same thing about another girl at the begining of the next school year. Every year.
Thank goodness my brothers have good sense! A sister couldn't ask for more. :D

Sorority girls are hot.

ThetaGirl1997 08-21-2002 11:46 PM

My fiance is a Phi Mu Delta...we were both actives when we met, although he wasn't really too involved at that point in time. Our first date was actually Theta Formals. I think it was easier just because I didn't have to explain things to him--chapter, mandatory events, etc. Also, he knew better than to ask questions about anything!!

meheron 08-21-2002 11:47 PM

Sounds funny but I think a lot of greeks like to date greeks because 1st they understand them and how much greek life means to them and 2nd so the girls can have a candle passing (all Theta's know what I mean). in other words get a lavaliere (did I spell that right, owell)
