I am a tried-and-true Longhorn and somehow I managed to raise an Aggie. I'm distracting myself because we leave in about 3 hours for move-in.
He went to fish camp last week. It's basically brainwashing/indoctrination (I am not knocking, I have actually been really impressed with the activities this school has been offering my baby boy). BUT - he left me on a Sunday and came home on a Wednesday and declared himself a red-assed Aggie. (?) He said he knew one of his counselors was in a fraternity. The guy had to wait until the end of fish camp to tell him which one. As a mom, I will say it is fun watching these kids that I've known since infancy pledge houses. Facebook indicates his middle-school crush just pledged Chi O at TCU. Well, the car is packed. I guess there is no avoiding the inevitable. Sniff. |
At Fish camp, do they still have some guy (yell leader) stand up and say that he hates, absolutely hates the University of Texas (or Texas University in Aggie speak)? Or do they now say they hate some other school like University of Alabama?

The counselors are also mentors for the first semester of school. If there was anyone that had trouble adjusting or had any questions they would call or meet with the counselors. They also had parties the first few week of the semester which allowed us to get to know them and more freshman students. Fish camp was one of the best times I had my freshman year!
Part of my yell ( it has been 26 years so can't remember all of it) Session C, chef boy r dee Nutrition in a can Eat em up...yum We never talked about ut and did not have a yell leader stand up and tell us how much he hated ut. Good luck in rush! Whoop! |
