NYC is ONE of the greatest cities in the world. I think Washington DC is one of the greatest cities in the world.

Michigan!
 

In my opinion, the absolute best thing about living in Michigan is being able to point to your left hand and show someone where you're from! (For those of you who don't know any Michiganders, we use our anatomical map to represent our "mitten" state. Of course, you can only do this if you live in the lower peninsula.)

Some of the other benefits to living in Michigan are:

The Great Lakes

Experiencing all four seasons

Being close to Canada. (This is especially useful when you're under 21!)

Awesome shopping malls

We don't have any accents. (Seriously, we talk perfectly — just like people on TV!)

Detroit is Hockeytown... Go Wings!

Not having to walk up hills (it's flat as hell here! hehe)

More golf courses than any state in the country

Lots of street fairs and festivals

The people are pretty friendly

And finally, understanding that it's POP, not soda. It's pop!

I never understood how Detriot is HockeyTown if Montreal has won more Stanley Cups, and the Hall of Fame is in Toronto.......

I must say that I too love the DC area

You're right in the middle of everything...great bars, night clubs, there's always parties, then again you can tour downtown, or chill around the water in Georgetown or go into northern va or md. It's the perfect combination of suburbs and the city:D

New Orleans, LA:

*The FOOD. I don't care where else you go in the US, you will not find food as good as NOLA. I've eaten at some of the "best" restaurants around the country and nothing compares to what I can get in my hometown.
*The weather - we don't have any real "winter" to speak of. Its not uncommon to wear shorts in January.
*Great people, lots of festivals, just an overall friendly place to be.
*Mardi Gras - 'nuff said
*New Orleans is a very European city in a lot of ways. There is a very strong French/Hispanic/Creole culture
*We can find any excuse for a party. When Hurricane Georges hit in 1998, a lot of New Orleaneans ended up in Jackson, MS. Our hotel had "happy hour" with free drinks - boy, did they not see us coming! :D
*We're just a few hours from some of the most beautiful beaches in Florida (PCB is about 4 hours away).
*Cost of living is riduculously low in the suburbs.

For about 5 or 6 years running I was living in the #1 city in the world in the #1 country in the world - now it's the #2 city in the world in the #3 country in the world. When I tell people I'm from Vancouver, they get so jealous, because I truely do live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It's not too hot in the summer and not too cold in the winter. You can skiing/snowboarding in the morning and go suntanning on the beach or play a round of golf in the afternoon (all on the same day). I live 2 hours away from the #1 ski resort in North America, I'm surrounded by mountains, oceans, beaches. And the culture is just amazing - on thursday night I went to Little Italy for some gelato, friday night I headed out for sushi. last night we ordered in Thai, tonight I had Chinese. And ofcourse Vancouverites love their hockey. Ok I sound like a travel brochure, but I love my city :).

Let's see...I live in Lexington, Ohio. I'm going to take my mothers advice, if you don't have anything nice to say...

Ok born and raised in South Florida...you've got the beach for day and nighttime fun, you've got clubs in west palm near you and clubs in ft lauderdale and south beach (kick ass). You've got great restaurants everywhere but the down side is that there are A LOT of bums on street corners, it rains alot sometimes nd it's brutally hot most of the time.

Ok, just moved to Little Rock (got here yesterday). So far i have found that little rock has good restaurants, some clubs (haven't been yet), beautiful overlook views, nice people (sokme major hotties too), a lot of walmarts (vomit) and very nice houses......oooh ohhh and SNOW, i love snow!

South Carolina

~We have the beautiful and historic downtown Charleston, talk about southern charm

~There are more restaurants than you can count along the coast

~Shrimp doesn't get any fresher than the shrimp in SC

~Everyone says good mornin', good evenin' even if you don't know the person

~Great clubs...Club Boca, I love you

~The weather is GREAT!!!!!

Go Philly! :) (Ok, I don't live in the city, but very nearby, so I usually just tell people I'm from there. :p) Anyway, good things about Philadelphia:

*CHEESESTEAKS, mmmmm :D
*We're the birthplace of the nation! So many cool historical sites to see, such as the Liberty Bell, Independence Mall, Betsy Ross's house, etc. :cool:
*Central location that is pretty much equidistant to NYC and DC
*Drive an hour or so one way and you're in farm country, an hour or so the other way and you're at the beach, an hour or so a third way and you're in the mountains
*Great diversity
*We have 4 seasons, too, but we don't get buried by snow in the winter time
*Some really good colleges/universities, such as University of Pennsylvania, Drexel, Temple, Villanova, St Joe's, etc
*M. Night Shamaylan (sp?), Will Smith, Kevin Bacon, and Patti LaBelle are a few of the people from here :cool:

I think there's actually a thread floating around on how much Ohio sucks...

To be fair though, I live in Columbus and I like it a lot.
