Supposedly my campus is haunted. I just heard about this story a few days ago. Here goes: - A small gazebo bordering the campus lake is said to be frequented by the spirit of a young man. He apparently drowned in the lake one evening. His body was found sitting in the gazebo by two females the next morning. Since that time, the man’s figure has been seen standing at the edge of the lake, or sitting in the gazebo. He has been known to beckon young women to come sit with him, and quickly disappearing when accommodated.

OK this is really kinda weird at the moment. When I took a weekend to visit our house in early June I found out that the house is haunted. Yeah yeah laugh if you want. It was the night that the Wings went into triple OT and the Lewis Tyson fight was on. I had a long day and drove across the state, so I went to bed a little earlier than everyone else, a lot of the girls had gone home or were still at work. I went to the basement and planned on sleeping on one of the pullout couches.
I got ready for bed and crawled in. I started to fall asleep and heard someone talking to me, it really didn't resemble english so I shrugged it off and closed my eyes again. Within five minutes I heard the voice again, this time it was easy to identify it as a little girls voice and she yelled at me to "G-g-get out of here!" I kinda asked myself if I was hearing things then I felt like someone was walking around the bed and starring at me, SO I decided to go upsatirs and tell the one sister that was at home what just happened. I went up to our TV room and started to share my story with our house manager who was the only person who was home at the time. She had just come in from visiting the neighbors. So she said I couldn't have possible been her I heard because she wasn't in the house at the time. Then she told me that the fraternity that lived there before us kept seeing a young girls on the far set of steps going up to one side of the house. They never belived it till later in the year someone saw a little girl running through our basement. Then the house manager tells me that just the week before she woke up and a little girl was sitting on her floor watching the TV in her room. As a sister came home from work she sharred that one day when the house had all the windows and doors shut, that one of the paddles (my classes paddle which is the newest addition) that lines our hallway was swinging back and forth and that nobody had been in the hallway. Luckily this is a house we are renting, not that we really mind a ghost being around. We have even named her and talk about her. We plan on researching the house at city hall and seeing if anything has happened to the building or in it. So even though it's not on campus, the ladies of Sigma Alpha live in a haunted house. |

I was referring to all of the "non-virgins" here. |
There was a running joke in our chapter that one of our original founders (Martha Footcrowe) of the International fraternity haunted the downstairs bathroom (i think it was devised to freak out new members because that area of the house is pretty creepy).
Anyway, a couple years back a group of us were all up late one night during finals week and hanging out in the chapter room. We were joking around about the story when one of the girls (a new member) noticed that one of the lights in the chapter room was doing weird things. She pointed it out to us and we all stared at it, seeing nothing. After about 30 seconds one the girls goes 'Hey Martha, you there?' and the light distinctly blinked twice. That was enough to freak all us out!! Who knows if someone or something is there.... but it was pretty creepy. |
