WHAT!!!!!!!!!!???????????!!!!!!!!!!! :eek:

I have this one co-worker who always irks me whenever a group of us go out to lunch or dinner. She always has to ask exactly what comes with each entree (not a problem) and compares that to the price of the dish ~ in front of the waiter/waitress. Like say the steak dinner is $21.95. She'll ask what it comes with (salad, bread, side items, etc.) then she'll be like: "FOR $21.95!! I'm not paying $21.95 for that little bit of food!! Hmmmm, what do I get with the salmon?" It never ends. Then no matter how the dish is prepared there is always something wrong with it. Hence, her refusing to tip because of "bad service". And the thing is she has money. She's just cheap.

I have refused to go out with the group if she goes because she reminds me of Chris Rock's character in "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" when he goes to the chicken place and asks how much for chicken wings and acts like it's too rich for his blood, even asking for the price of ONE wing. Then he pulls a whole wad of money from his pocket. Plus, when I go out I like to enjoy myself and have a good time. The negativity spoils my appetite.

It also makes me want to run and hide when "angry black man" (my ex was one of these) goes out to eat the same night I do. You know the type that proceeds to cause a scene and demean the waiter/waitress calling him/her every bad word in the book over the smallest most insignificant thing. On top of that, nothing management does is satisfactory (paying for the meal, drinks on the house, etc.) and even you're thinking the person is clearly overreacting. Then, people start looking at you to see if it's going to turn into an all-out riot in the restaurant. Next thing you know, people start asking for doggie bags and stuff and trying to leave before it really gets out of hand.

What embarrassed me the most, recently?

Hello,

As many of you may already know I'm a multicultural female (black, amerindian, and latina=black through skin color) that is pursuing the career of a sports doctor. Now what really urkes me is the people who choose to talk to "White" patients on a professional level and talk to "Black and other minority" patients on a broken-lower level. This is a high pet peeve of mine. I believe everyone no matter who they are should be treated the same until they deserve otherwise (I'm a waitress for the summer-and I know some people can really piss you off, By the way for those who don't know there is a such thing as a "TIP" and it is green with a dead president on it. It has been a stereotype that a high percentage of "our" people won't tip more than $3 if anything. That also gets to me).

Another peeve is the fact that all our women have to be advertised as "hoochies", "models", or "dancers" why can't we have professional women-more nurses, doctors, lawyers, and anything that requires more than a high school education.

Ok-enough of that.

job interviews
 

About three-weeks ago I had an job interview and I was one of three black young-ladies and there were two black men. Tell me why the two men walk in with jeans, dirty white tee shirts, and a pair of timberlands. The interviewer politely told the two that there clothing was inapporiate (sp). Then they had the nerve to make a scene in the office causing the employer to call the police. Now I understand that not everyone has the luxary of having alot of clothes but I felt that what they did was completely out of line...

Awhile back while I was still in DC i had to go the Social Security office because I misplaced my card. After waiting two to three hours with all types of CRAZY people around me a black woman got in front of me and said "I need my check because I have to go by my crack"......... WTF

I know that some people GC aren't big fans of BET..but at Howard BET was one of the 8 channels of we had during the first semester. One day HITS came to Howard and asked a fellow student to show her thongs and she did on national TV.. I'm still looking for her a$$ on campus.. Just to ask her what in the hell was she thinking :confused: !!

If you wanna talk about US situations- how about Greekfest?

I went to Jones Beach GreekFest and was DISGUSTED by what I saw. First of all, there were maybe 5 Greeks at the event total (I was a neo, seasoned Sorors told me about it, but I guess it's one of those things you have to see for yourself to believe). Second, why come every black woman not in a BGLO there had to have her azz hanging out? Why come all these nasty ass men were out there with video cameras trying to 'catch' something? Why come MEMBERS OF BGLO's were out there DRUNK as hell in LETTERS. I was just mortified all round.

And WORST of all was all my Jamaican folks out there acting a FOOL. I turned around. walked the damn MILE back to the bus and went home!

i am thoroughly embarrased when "we" don't wear clothing appropriate for our body type OR appropriate for the occaision. There is a young lady that works in my building that is what the fellas would consider thick. She looks like she's either on her way to the club or in from a long night of partying EVERY DAY, i call her style of dress "loud." She comes in the office wearing tight pants, low-cut shirts, the sandals me and my girls call the "strappy h* shoes" form-fitting dresses, super-fabulous jewelry, ALWAYS with hair to match. YES, i said hair - red dress = red hair in her guide to fashion education. she walks down these halls like someone from vogue or elle is about to pop out from the elevator and offer her a modeling contract, but ol' girl is a MESS... the other people in the building shake their heads when she walks by and i've heard the bad comments... but get this. There are a few older black ladies in the office and they CONTINUALLY tell her she's cute. :confused:

Grocery Store Embaressment.....
I was in the grocery store and it was packed with white people. I'm just shopping and all of a sudden a ghetto fab woman comes in with her hair up to heaven comes in talking loud and using all kind of foul lanuage. Nigga this Nigga that. So i'm trying to walk away from her cause i am soooo embaressed. When she just busted out.*Damn where all the Nigga wenches at..working in the kitchen ..hahahahaha. Say Nigga(whiteman in his late 40's was red as hell) u know where the forty's at..My man just got out of the pen and we finna go f*%k and drank and smoke some weed.*I almost fell down becasue i was running so hard to get out of their.

Block buster
My family and I went to blockbuster for a Movie night. So we had like 5 different movies and were tryong to decide what to get. It must have been really bored because EVERYBODY was at BB. So we were in this super long line and still couldn't decided what to get. This white couple was behind us with only 1 movie so we said*Yall can go in front of us* They smiled and said thank u and walked in front of us. They must have had around 5 friends with them so everyone was walking in front of us when we heard realllyyy LOUD*Say Niggas This ain't 1965 during slaverytime:eek: Don't let them crackers buss in front of u like that. Kick They azz,Buss em in they MOFO face..Damn These crackers:eek: :confused: .Slavery been over since 1965. We is Free to do and say what we want to the white man.*:eek:

My aunt saysthats simple because there are 3 types of us..African-Americans,Black folks and NiGGas...

I'm embarrassed whenever I ride the subways in NYC and our folks just feel the need to talk loud enough so that the entire train car can know their entire life stories :mad: Another thing that pisses me off to no end is when there are young black and hispanic people on the train saying "n****" this and "n****" that, not caring that there are people on the train that are not of their ethnic background (if you know what I mean) and it doesn't matter whether it's young boys or girls.

- I went to the mall last weekend with a female friend of mine. When we were leaving, a car full of young(younger would probably be more accurate) black guys pulled in front of us BLASTING their music. The problem wasn't the volume(well..not entirely). The problem was that the song they were playing was literally filled with swears. I'm driving behind these kids and every other word is f-this and nigga that. I'm looking left and right at these white/black/asian mothers and fathers looking in disgust/rolling up their windows/peeling in the opposite direction. I was embarassed to be the car behind them. Whenever people looked over they saw both of our cars and I know they lumped me in with whatever preconceived notion they had about those kids.


- I went to a private elementary school and I was one of TWO black kids in the entire school. (Grades 1-8) Why did the one other black kid have to go ahead and start stealing things out of peoples bookbags AND bring a knife to school? Needless to say he was expelled. You can imagine how it must feel to be the only black kid in an all white school in an all white town after the last black kid was kicked out for stealing stuff and bringing a weapon. Not fun.

It's just so frustrating to see behavior that we're discussing. My parents would have none of it -- they lived through segregation, Jim Crow, et al (my mom's going to be 75 this year and my dad, had he lived, would turn 80). Because they lived through that kind of garbage and created a great life for their family, I owe it to myself and them to conduct myself in a certain way.

Dignity and common sense are soo important.

On Soror Lovelyivy84's post: Why do WE, NPHC and other BGLO members, have to show out? I thought we were supposed to be a cut above, as it were.

It never fails when I walk downtown with co-workers for lunch I run into cousins - folk that I know from childhood and they greet you with "What's Up N****R." - - - N****R you got it going on. You know those type of remarks made in front of co-workers. Well of coures my co-workers look as if they will piss in their pants and later say "Is it ok for Blacks to use the "N" word. Hell, I don't know what to say myself because many of us pubicly use the word. Just listen to some new music.
