But not sure as to which ones are still recongized by the school... The other greeks are Latino/a based orgs. |

I know at U of Alabama our first fraternity on campus was DKE. I am pretty sure it came to our campus in 1844. Our other fraternites on campus weren't too far behind DKE. Our first sorority i think was 1904, i am pretty sure that is the right date. I am pretty sure that it was either KD or ADPi

I'm not going to do a lot of homework, but Beta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta was chartered at Ohio University in 1862 and has been continuously active ever since.
I don't believe we were the first at the university, however. |

The oldest sororities at my school were Delta Delta Delta and Sigma Sigma Sigma. But Tri-Delt was closed in 1998 or 99. I am not sure which Fraternity was first, but it was probably Sigma Chi or Lambda Chi.

W&J was actuallys two seperate colleges (the earliest of which was founded in 1781) that merged in 1865 and went coed in 1972 Fraternities: Beta Theta Pi 1842 (oldest fraternity chapter in North America in continuous existance) Phi Gamma Delta 1848 (founding chapter) Phi Kappa Psi 1852 (founding chapter) Phi Kappa Sigma 1854 Delta Tau Delta 1861 (oldest Delt chapter in continuous existance - I think) Phi Delta Theta 1875 Alpha Tau Omega 1882 Zeta Beta Tau 1962 Several of these are hanging on by their fingernails due to lack of members or behavior.
