I am like Joan because she is focused on her career, likes to have control, wants to be the mother and model best friend.

I am like Mya because I can get a little bucked on people sometimes. You know how Mya can get straight "ethnic!" :D

I am like Lynn because I am on my way to my second degree and I still plan on going to law school. However, I just want to be an eduacted "free-spirit." As far as the "freak" thing that she has happening, I don't think that I am there yet. :p

I am like Toni because I think that I am fabulous. I am trying to create a life that is simply spectacular. I think that Toni is taking her less than stellar childhood and trying to make a future that provides all the finer things. What's wrong with that? :p :o She is a little stuck-up and materialistic at times, though.

That makes two of us...:D

Joan - People like to ask my opinion and advice on things and I try to be the model friend.

Mya - There are times where I have to remember that I grew up in the projects when I need to get in someone's azz after they pissed me off ('cause that's how we roll in BK). :p

Toni - I like the finer things in life (although I'm living on a beer budget). Unlike her, I'm not a brat, nor am I shallow.

Lynn - I might wind up being a "professional student" just like her. :p

There is nothing wrong with tat. I am sure most folks want to live life comfortably and have things that maybe they went without while growing up. . .

but she is SO MATERIALISTIC, SHALLOW, PRETENTIOUS, adn WHINY lately that I want to hurl. I am starting to doubt that her and Todd will make it to the altar.

On another note, I felt bad for Joan last night. I knew that was why she was tripping on Ellis.

I guess I am MORE like Joan and Lynn. I've been called a professional student in my day...WTFE. YOU AIN'T paying my bill, so shut the (bleep) up! (That's the part of Mya I can relate with).
I am the loyal friend, always trying to help. Usually, I'm always giving, but never receiving. Always "with", but more times "without." I can definitely relate to Joan.

Toni and I are alike in SOME ways, but I'm NOT shallow like that. I can admit that I am spoiled, but I am not a brat bout it. If I don't get it...I don't get it. Move on...

She acts a plain fool! What was up with ALL the parites? A gift for each party....HELL NAW! (That's the Mya in me again). :D

I don't think that she (Toni) and Dr. Man are going to make it down the aisle either.

Did anyone hear that Joan and William will get together? Also, Lynn would leave the show? Maybe this came to me in a dream.

Oh and yall know I have some Mya up in me, don't most of us? :D

Yeah I remember the Lyn leaving thing in a Celeb Dish thread back in the fall. She got saved. Maybe that is why she is on a celibate plot line now.

Oh and I was too throught that William got with Prissy Bytchy azz boss, he must thrive on EVIL, SHALLOW, OVERBEARING women: Yvonne, the other heffa, and now Ms. Partner @ the law firm. I just knew ol boss lady was going to set him up for sexual harassment or something.

I am just waiting on Mya and Darnell to get back together.

I love this show!!!

:) I love the show Girlfriends! I think Joan is too needy. She seems like she has to have a man. I think lynn and mia are so funny. But it's all about TONI CHILDS!!! That's my girl! She's the DIVA you Love to Hate! Plus we have the same name. Gotta love those Toni's!:D

Tonight's Girlfriends was REALLY GOOD.

HC however Kimberly Elise's character never has any GOOD LUCK?
HC she has played a desperate mother, mother of a sick kid, a former slave haunted by her sister, and now a woman living with AIDS?
HC I hope they bring her back though as a recurring guest?

I was like "whoah"

You think others are all happily murried, etc when you are not married, but you find that their life is in more turmoil than yours.

I bet Joan is full of happy, happy, joy, joy that she didn't marry Brian. It's unfortunate for their friend, but...

If THAT is not a good time to say GLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORY and do a holy dance, I don't know what is.

The episode was good. And Toni's gown was GORGEOUS!

CrimsonTide4 03-18-2003 01:48 PM

For those who saw last night's ep, what would you have done with the knife?

Me myself, I would have washed it off like I do any other dish and been done with it. :)

stardusttwin 03-18-2003 06:17 PM

I remember when my friends mother was first diagnosed (15 years ago) I was scared to go to the house because after all these years of practically living there if I didn't accept anything to eat or drink they would know why. And I would never want her mom to feel uncomfortable. I was scared - although my head had read up on everything and knew better I still was scared to use any utensils in the house.

Today - I would wash the knife and go on about my business.

And I've done that gloooooory dance - soon as it became public about someone I used to date being diagnosed I got calls begging me to go get tested - folks didn't believe me when I said we NEVER slept together - it just didn't feel right and I couldn't put my finger on it at the time. Well years later I now know it was the same situation as on last nights show (he was living in the closet, not admitting he was actually gay) - THANK THE GOOD LORD I didn't let him push it nor let my horny college hormones take me down a feel good road I would regret for the rest of my life.

Nothing says loving like mr. duracell ;) .

Like you CT4, I started off not liking the show but it grew on me and now I am hooked. Last night's episode was outstanding!

To answer your question, I would have put the knife in the dishwasher with the rest of my dirty dishes. But then I have been volunteering with AIDS organizations for 12 years, so I know there was no danger.

By the way, Kimberly Elise's mother is a Delta and we watched her grow up. :D

it brought up a lot of questions about the "homothug". A thread I started a LONGGGG time ago. It is very real y'all!

And what is worse is that it's true, these men don't think they are gay, it's normal to them:eek:

I read the book "B-Boy Blues" a few years ago. The issue of the "homothug" was discussed in the book. One of the characters denies that he was gay although he's in a relationship with another man. He feels that as long as he's the "giver" and not the "receiver", everything is cool.

A real eye-opening book.

Monday's episode reminded me of one of my favorite quotes:

"Sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck."
